Fixing a deposit error

Hi there, @DrBobI.

Allow me to help you fix your accidentally entered payment in QuickBooks Desktop.

It is important to ensure that transactions in QuickBooks Desktop are properly sorted to easily view payments, maintain accurate financial records, and facilitate efficient financial management.

To delete a transaction, you can simply double-click on the accidentally entered payment in the customer profile under the Transactions tab and delete it from there.

If you are unable to delete a transaction, please let me know if you encounter a runtime error during the process. In the meantime, you can verify and rebuild data to identify common issues in a company file. The rebuild tool will fix these issues as suggested by 4Gal.

Fixing a deposit error

Thanks for the replies.  I have rebuilt and verified my data.  no errors.  the deposit is still there and when I go into the customer profile and look for that particular deposit  I do not see it on the date where it shows up when I go into the customers statement, but I do not see it on the account register.  I cannot delete it on the customer profile because I do not see it there.  What am I missing??

Thank you for the prompt response, Dr.Bobl. I'm here to help you where we can find your deposit transaction in the QuickBooks Desktop QBDT.

There's a possible reason the deposit was in the incorrect account, or it's still in the undeposited fund. To ensure, we can use this another option to find where it can located, if it's in the other bank account or the undeposited fund account.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Banking menu.
  2. Select Use Register.
  3. From the Select Account drop-down, choose the account where the incorrect transactions were recorded.
  4. Click Ok.
  5. Locate the deposit transaction.
  6. Right-click on the deposit.

Fixing a deposit error

I do not see this mistaken payment when I go into the customer portal.  It shows up when I open statements it is in the history on 02/29 but it shows up nowhere else, I look and when I try to delete it from statements it of course tells me I have to go into the customer account to delete where I cannot see it.   Very frustrating.  thanks for all the suggestions but nothing seems to be working for me yet

Fixing a deposit error

Erwin,

Thanks for the help.  I tried doing what you suggested  and when I get to the "delete" part it tells me I have to delete the deposit although the line item says undeposited funds. So I am going in a giant circle.  I need this to be deleted so I can send a correct statement and not show a payment that does not exist
