I'm gathering this isn't possible, which is kind of crazy (it's almost as though Intuit doesn't work on use cases with end users).
There are other dynamic fields in invoices, it doesn't make sense that one of the fields couldn't be a payment link.
Here's our use case:
We put PDFs of our invoices in a Microsoft Teams site and our end users receive an automatic notification that the invoice is ready, so we need the link in the invoice itself.
Hello, Aaron AV.
I can show you how to insert a payment link in an invoice.
Before doing that, we ensure that you have QuickBooks Payments account connected to your QuickBooks Desktop. This way, you can send a payment link in an invoice.
Here's how:
Once done, QuickBooks sends an email to your customer with the requested payment details and a pay button. You’ll also receive a confirmation email. For more information on how the payment link works, you can check this article: Payment links for QuickBooks Desktop.
Additionally, I've added this article that'll help you manage customer payments: Receive and process payments in QBDT.
Please leave a comment below if you have any follow-up questions about the invoice payment links. Have a good one.
Thanks for the response but this isn't what I'm asking.
I want all of my invoices - PDF and hard copy - to include the text of the payment link. In other words, the template for the invoice we use in Quickbooks should have a field for the payment link.
As I said, we don't use the email invoice function. We place the PDFs of invoices online for our clients, and we want them to be able to pay the invoice from there.
Consider having a 3rd party connector to do so.
I have this exact same need. What have you ended up doing? Did you use a 3rd party invoicing service and if so, which one? Like you, I don’t use emailed payment links for specific reasons, and need the payment link to be embedded into the invoice PDF. I appreciate any insight or recommendations you can provide. Thanks!
Did you all find a solution?
We are looking at using Paysimple to process our payments. In order to do so we want to have a payment link on the invoices that are sent out of quickbooks. Have you all had any luck?
Thanks!
I’m glad to see you in this thread, @jsenter. I’m here to share some information so you can have a payment link attached to your invoices.
Since you’ve mentioned that you’re looking at using Paysimple to process your payments. You may consider using a third-party application to have a payment link attached to your invoices.
You can visit our Desktop App Center to check for a connector tool. The site contains several apps that work compatible with QuickBooks Desktop. Just enter a keyword (connector) in the Search field, then select View Profile to see the features and benefits.
You might want to read this guide to learn more about creating custom Payment links for customers: Payment links for QuickBooks Desktop.
Also, feel free to visit this page that contains topics about your company's income and customers: Sales and customers. It includes details about banking to manage your funds and instructions to view your financial health.
Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns besides the payment link. We’re always here to help you out. Have a good day!
You need a 3rd party connector but Paysimple is not in their list yet to integrate with QB.
YOU CAN DO IT.. i do this to 100% OF MY INVOICES... but it takes a few steps...
other applications do this automatically... Intuit should... it would make our life easier!
here is what you do:
create a graphic that says "click here to pay online"... i included a visa/Mastercard/Amex logo... save it to your desktop.
make your invoice in QBO and Download it.
BEFORE YOU CLOSE THIS WINDOW, click "Get Link To this Invoice" (bottom of print preview page). this will copy your link to your 'clipboard' for later use...
open the PDF Invoice in ADOBE ACROBAT (pro)... select EDIT and ADD IMAGE... find the graphic you created, and import it.
once it shows up, move it to where you want it placed.
right click the image and select CREATE LINK... select the OPEN WEBSITE LINK option (only have to select this the first time.. it will remember your choice)... select NEXT
Paste your Payment Link... select OK.
Save your PDF.
you now have a graphic that says CLICK TO PAY.. .and it is a link.
boom. done!
email me if you want to see the result, or want more help... [Removed]
if this is the only way to this this, this is insane and i want my money back.
What QBDT have the payment links option? Need to upgrade?
Secondly, can you batch create invoices (400) in QBDT with the payment links? Or do you have to click on each customer separately to add the payment links?
Hi I am reading your process for payment links.
Not sure if this is what I can use or not.
I have QBDT Premier.
I need to send out 400 invoices in January (soon) with a link to view/pay. I used to have Intuit but now have Elavon/Converge.
I need to either add a hyperlink to my invoices or integrate Payment Links from QB to get my customers to pay.
What version of QBDT uses payment links?
Any ideas on how to accomplish my task? thanks
Thank you for joining the thread, @bhsat2012.
Let me help you with your concern. You've mentioned that you're no longer at Intuit which means you can't use payment links outside of it.
I'll recommend contacting Elavon/Converge support to answer your queries about sending multiple invoices.
You can read through this article if you want to know what's new in QuickBooks Desktop 2023.
If you have additional questions about the invoice and payment link. I'll be always here. Have a good day!

You can put the payment link in the Customer Message field. Then use one of these importer tool to proceed.

Hi how are you. How can we Pakistani Asia company account to quick book. Guide me about payment online link and customer pay online through credit card or master card and Ach bank transfer.
I didn't think QB had any 3rd party payment integrations. Can you share a link where you found this or how it works?
Can you tell me which of these apps actually solve the problem we are looking to have addressed? They all just sync data across the platforms. I don't see a single one that allows for a payment link to be integrated into an invoice.
It's very frustrating that QB won't accommodate this. We just started using QB Payments, but it only accepts one currency. The advertise of the feature is misleading especially when you consider that QB itself is fully capable of managing multiple currencies. If you aren't going to offer the capacity to accept more than one currency through your Payments option, you should at least allow a third party app to do so. In Xero you can create an invoice and let other payment processors (such as Stripe) manage the payment with a link integrated into the invoice.
