Importing Donations

I need to import donations received online through merchant services like Tithe.ly and WIX. Is this possible? If so, how? I use QB Desktop 2019 Premier Non-Profit Edition. Help!

Importing Donations

Hi NLC_Deb!

Yes, there's a way to import those donations. I'm here to help you.

You'll want to check if these third-party merchant service providers support QBO file. This is a file format that you can import to QuickBooks Desktop.

These are the steps on how to upload the file:

  1. From the Banking menu, hover over Bank Feeds, then Import Web Connect Files.
  2. Select the QBO file you saved, then select Open.
  3. When prompted to select your bank account:
    • Use a QuickBooks account that exists
    • Create a new QuickBooks account
  4. Click Continue, then OK.

Once done, go to the Bank Feeds Center to review the transactions.

Another way is to look for a third-party app to integrate QuickBooks Desktop and the third-party merchant service providers. You can find one from our QuickBooks Desktop Apps site.

I added this article if you need help in reconciling your accounts Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Desktop.

We'll be right here if you need more assistance with this. Wishing you all the best!

I’m here to help and provide insights about the QBO file, TNLC_Deb.

The mentioned file type is known as QuickBooks Bank Statement File. It contains your electronic bank statement downloaded from your Financial Institution (FI) and opens with .qbo extension.

For the complete list of common files and extensions in QuickBooks, click here to access the article. You’ll learn how to utilize each one and bring it into QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

One of our users also shared some details about financial formats. Tap this link to view the post. It provides detailed information on each one,  as well as how to apply or utilize it in QuickBooks.

Drop a comment below if you have any clarifications about common file types and how to use them. I’ll get back to make sure this is taken care of for you. Have a great weekend.

Hi there, NLC_Deb.

Importing bank transactions to QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) using the .CSV file is not available. Let me guide you how to do it.

  1. Sign in to your bank and download the transaction as .QBO file.
  2. Then, in your QBDT. Go to the File menu
  3. Select Utilities then Import and then click Web Connect Files.
  4. Click the .QBO file you saved, then select Open.
  5. Select your bank account.
  6. Click Continue
  7. You should see a dialogue box telling you that the data has been successfully read into QuickBooks and select OK.
  8. Then, go to the Bank Feeds Center.

Furthermore, here's an article you can read for more details: Import web connect (.qbo) files.

To manually import transactions from your online banking account into QuickBooks, you'll need to download a transaction file (.qbo). Once the file is ready, you can now import it into QuickBooks.

In the same manner, learn more about your company data and its file extensions with this article: File types and extensions used by QuickBooks Desktop.

You can look for a converter tool or consider checking out for third-party apps that handles data conversion between QuickBooks platforms. Visit our applications website here: https://apps.intuit.com/app/apps/home
