Melio bill pay confusion

We received a short email stating that Melio bill pay will no longer be available after September 12. We currently use Quickbooks Pro Plus Desktop 2022. We pay the majority of our vendors through ACH due to check washing fraud we experienced earlier this year. I have found conflicting information regarding this change. I have spent a large amount of time Googling, but all I seem to find is answers pertaining to online QB or Enterprise. We do not wish to pay any fees to schedule ACH payments to vendors. I no longer seem to be able to log into Melio- all I receive is error messages. We pay all our vendors through QB using Melio. It looks as if QB Bill Pay is going to charge yet another monthly fee plus $0.50 per ACH. Is this accurate? I have also seen there will be different tiers available, but I can't find any other information except the "basic" fee structure. QB could have handled this transition in a much better way; instead we are left trying to decipher what is coming. Can anyone provide more comprehensive information so we can decide what is the best and most cost effective way to move forward? Thank you!

Melio bill pay confusion

It's good to have you back, OHennon.

I have updated my previous answer and added more information.

As I've mentioned, the Bill Pay service is a free online feature that comes with your current QuickBooks Desktop product, and there are no extra charges for using it.

There are no transaction fees for standard payments made through bank transfer (ACH). However, if you choose to make ACH to paper check bill payments, there will be a charge of $1.50 per transaction. For payments made with Debit and Credit Cards, there is a transaction fee of 2.9%, which will be billed separately by Melio from the original payment.

For our expedited payment options, here are the associated fees:

  • Fast ACH*: 1% of total transaction amount
  • Fast Check: $20 flat fee

I recommend referring to the article for additional information and a more detailed explanation, : Pay bills online from QuickBooks Desktop.

I'll be around if you need more help. Have a good one.

Melio bill pay confusion

I'm here to clear up your confusion on the upcoming changes regarding Bill Pay powered by Melio in QuickBooks Desktop, OHennon.

The email was sent to QuickBooks Desktop users who signed up for Bill Pay powered by Melio but haven't used it or made any payments with it.

We are introducing a new solution that lets you conveniently handle bill management and payments directly within QuickBooks. This update enables you to effortlessly manage your financial tasks without relying on outside parties.

Since you are currently using the feature, this change will not affect your account. In your case, you've mentioned you received an error message. Can you provide the exact wording of the error so I can further check and provide an accurate solution?

On the other hand, the Bill Pay service is a complimentary online feature included in your existing QuickBooks Desktop product, and there are no additional fees associated with it.

To gain more insights into managing vendor transactions and effectively tracking your outstanding payments, check out this article that provides valuable guidance: Accounts Payable Workflows in QBDT.

What is the cost for this new program? Is there a monthly charge or a charge per bill? Will it be charged once a month as payroll fees are, or charged on a daily basis?

I saw somewhere in my searching there are three tiers and for basic there is no monthly charge, but there is a charge per payment. What are the other tiers? Where can we find information about that?

Melio bill pay confusion

WE are currently using Melio for bill pay but would like to try Quickbooks bill pay.

I cannot find any instructions on how to switch. Melio is still the option that comes up in Quickbooks when I pay my bills.

Do I have to disconnect the Melio app?

Thank you

Melio bill pay confusion

I received an email from QuickBooks on 11/2/23 saying that Melio integration with QBO is going away on 12/4. Two questions:

- If I sign up for QuickBooks Bill Pay, will my vendors' ACH account and routing numbers sync to it from Melio? They currently do not show in my QBO vendors' profiles even though they exist in Melio.

- The email contained this: "We're committed to keeping QuickBooks open for integrations. You can continue to sync apps, including Melio, via the QuickBooks App Marketplace after December 4." Does that mean that I can continue using Melio within QBO as I am now if I choose the Melio app from the Marketplace? I do not want to maintain dual systems. If I had wanted to do that I could have kept using our bank's online billpay.

Thank you. Do you mean that I would have to sign up for a new Melio account?

You can sign in with your Intuit account and it will automatically create a new account. But if you prefer to get the caskback, you should click on the second link as I shared.

And all of my vendor info, including their ACH account and routing numbers, will still be there?

Melio bill pay confusion

Hello there, @Roland12. Let me answer your questions.

Regarding your first question, your vendor's ACH account and routing number from Melio won't transfer over to QuickBooks Bill Pay automatically.

As for your second question, yes, you can continue to use Melio in QBO if you choose it in the marketplace.

Furthermore, here's an article that can guide you through the workflow of recording your outstanding bills: Accounts Payable workflows in QuickBooks Desktop.

If you have any more questions about paying your bills, please don't hesitate to ask in the Community. Have a great day!

Thanks. That is a deal-breaker for QBO Bill Pay. I have spent the past couple of years pestering vendors to give Melio their ACH info, and I'm not going to do it all over.

I would be better off if I had just kept printing and mailing paper checks the way I did when I had QuickBooks 1.0.

@Roland12

If you have vendors set up with their payment information in your Bill Pay powered by Melio account when you log in to Melio with your Intuit details you should see those same vendors with their ACH account info there as well.

If you already have a Bill Pay powered by Melio account all you need to do is:
Click on the following link

https://affiliates.meliopayments.com/quickbooks

Click 'Sign in' on the top right-hand corner.
Click 'Sign in with Intuit' and enter your QB credentials.

From here, all the information in your Bill Pay powered by Melio account should sync over to Melio.com.

Thanks, 4Gal, but the only vendor account and routing numbers that I can view in Melio are those that I entered manually myself. I have obtained most of them by having Melio send an email request. That way I can assure the vendor that I will not see those numbers. They always have been, and continue to be, hidden from me.

I use QBDT Accountant Plus 2024.  I've used Bill.com since 2013 for receivables and payables.  I saw online bill payment in the QB pay bills que and tried to pay the business phone bill that way.  Before sending the payment I was asked to enter the vendor's bank and routing number.  I doubt Verizon will give that information to me which is a deal breaker.  BDC monthly subscription fee is a bit high for a solo practitioner like me but it has worked well for the most part.  Wondering what other alternatives we might have using QBDT.

You can sign up for a separate Melio account for free to pay 7,000+ local and nationwide billers, like:

Telecoms – AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile
Utilities – PG&E, American Electric
Financial institutions – Capital One, Chase, Amex
Local vendors & suppliers – Uline Shipping, Brewers Supply Group, Sunbelt Rentals

You don't need to know their bank information and.you can pay them with ACH for free unlimited.

httpss://affiliates.meliopayments.com/network

You can also get a cashback to pay the first bill. Make sure to click the Get $100 cashback button to sign up.

https://affiliates.meliopayments.com/cashback

Keep in mind, you can't sync the Melio stand-alone app with QB Desktop unless you want to use it for B2B invoicing.
