Audit Trail report does not show Credit applied to an Invoice

Hello,

We applied a Credit to an Open invoice. But when I run the Audit Trail report, it does not show any details about this transaction. Appreciate your inputs.

Thanks in advance.

Audit Trail report does not show Credit applied to an Invoice

Hello @caomit,

Thank you for dropping by here in the Community. I'm here to help you show the credit applied to an invoice in the Audit Trail report.

The data that reflects in the report will depend on the date range and customization. I recommend checking the filters to ensure the necessary transactions are available.

It may be possible that the report is filtered to show only specific transactions. Here's how:

  1. Click Reports at the top menu bar and choose Account & Taxes.
  2. Select Audit Trail.
  3. On the report screen, click Customize Report.
  4. Go to the Filter tab and search for Transaction type.
  5. Choose Multiple Transaction Types or Credit Memo
  6. Hit OK.

Additionally, I've attached a link you can visit to learn more about personalizing reports, like adding columns in QuickBooks: Customize reports in QuickBooks Desktop.

If there's anything else you need related to running reports, please let me know. I'd be more than willing to lend you a hand.

Audit Trail report does not show Credit applied to an Invoice

Hello AlaceusF,

Thanks for your input. Much appreciated.

In fact, I tried that before reaching out to the community. But I did not receive the expected results. I performed only one action yesterday in Quickbooks - Applied a Credit Memo to an invoice, and that is what I was hoping to see in the Audit Trail.

I can understand what you are suggesting. But it will produce the audit trail report of when the Credit Memos were created in Quickbooks. What I am looking for is when they were applied to one or more Invoices. Hope my request makes sense.

Thanks

Audit Trail report does not show Credit applied to an Invoice

It is now May 2024.  Has quickbooks desktop came up with a report yet to show how credits were applied to  invoices?  I thought that quickbooks is supposed to be an accounting program.  I believe that I was able to run a similar report in peachtree back in the 1990s.

If there is a way please let me know how to do it. I applied credits to one customers outstanding invoices on one day.

Thank you.

The Audit trail report did not work for me.

Audit Trail report does not show Credit applied to an Invoice

I'll share some details about running reports showing credits applied to an invoice, Acct PS.

Currently, QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) doesn't have a built-in report specifically designed to show how credits were applied to invoices. I recommend sending your suggestion about this to our product developers. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Help option.
  2. Click Send Feedback Online.
  3. Tap Product Suggestion. Then, enter your feedback.
  4. Hit the Send Feedback button to submit.

For the time being, you can run a Transaction Detail report. While it can't detail how credits were applied to invoices, you can see how credits were used. Please refer to the steps below:

  1. Click the Reports tab and choose Customers & Receivables.
  2. Select Transaction List by Customer

  3. In the Dates field, set your desired date. Then, tap the Customize Report button in the upper left corner.

  4. Click the Filters tab and choose TransactionType in the FILTER box.
  5. Under TransactionType, locate and select Credit Memo. Hit OK.

  6. Double-click the customer's name to open the Credit Memo window.
  7. In the lower right, you'll see the Recent Transaction section. You can see which invoice the credit was applied to. Select the Invoice to see more details.
