check printing problem

I've got steps to help you resolve your check printing problems, @Billy D.

Before we proceed, please know that not all printers are the same, some of the troubleshooting steps below require knowledge of your particular printer's setup. To guide you in performing the steps, I suggest reaching out to your IT person or the printer manufacturer's tech support.

Let's begin with considering the following:

  • Make sure that your QuickBooks Desktop is updated to the latest release
  • Your computer is connected to the printer and that the printer software is installed.
  • If you've encountered specific error messages, visit our QuickBooks support site for the exact error.

Then, let's check your printer if you can print outside QuickBooks:

  1. Select Start and browse to Notepad.
  2. Enter some text and choose File, then Print.
  3. Click the correct printer and hit Print.

If the print test didn't work, follow these steps:

  1. Turn off the printer, restart your computer, and then turn the printer back on.
  2. Make sure the printer paper is loaded correctly.
  3. Select the Windows Start button, browse to the Control Panel, and double-click Printers and Faxes.
  4. If the printer shows Offline, right-click the printer and choose Use Printer Online.
  5. Double-click the printer and if there are print jobs displayed in the queue, hit Printer, then Cancel All Documents.
  6. Close the window.
  7. Right-click the printer, pick Properties, and tap Print Test Page.

Note: If the printer is a network printer and the test page does not print, network issues could be the cause.

If the issue persists, go to Solution 1 of this article: Troubleshoot PDF and Print problems. This fixes most of the common printing issues. Once done, print the check again

Here's the article that will give you details about the process: Resolve printing issues. Since you're done with the print test, let's proceed to Step 4.

Also, I've added an article that will help you align checks when printing

Keep in touch with me if you have further printing concerns. I'll be around whenever you need further assistance. Take care always.
