Checks print "up the page." If I print 3 checks, the last one isn't nearly aligned

If I print more than one voucher at a time, the checks print in the wrong location. They aren't giving enough space between the checks. Image attached.checks bad align.jpg

Checks print "up the page." If I print 3 checks, the last one isn't nearly aligned

I'll help you fix your printing alignment for your voucher, LeMild.

We can make coarse adjustments if you're using checks purchased from Intuit. Here's how:

  1. Go to File and select Printer Setup
  2. Select the form you want to print from the Form name dropdown.
  3. Select Continuous (Perforated Edge) from the Printer type dropdown.
  4. Hit Align, then choose a template to use.
  5. After selecting a template, click OK.
  6. Choose Coarse, then OK to print a sample form.
  7. Check the pointer line QuickBooks printed across the middle of the sample. Note the number closest to the arrow points. Enter this number in the Pointer Line Position field and then select OK. QuickBooks might print another one.
  8. Take note of the printer alignment position on the test form for future reference.

However, if you're using checks purchased outside of Intuit, make fine alignment adjustments.

Additionally, I'll share this article to help you resolve lines on your invoices and other sales forms not printing clearly: Printing is unclear or fuzzy.

Checks print "up the page." If I print 3 checks, the last one isn't nearly aligned

Hi Camelle,

Thank you, but these checks aren't continuous, they're on separate pages.

When I do try to follow your directions, I'm told "the printer driver you are using does not support a full range of fonts for this printout." Then, nothing prints. When I check my print queue an item listed as "Quickbooks Portblast" is sitting there, not printing.

Let me help you sort out this issue, LeMild.

We can locate the QBPrint.qbp so we can rename the file and be able to save the printer setup and customization of your checks.

  • Windows 10, 8.1, and 8: C:\ProgramData\Intuit\QuickBooks 20xx
(20xx represents the version of your QuickBooks.)
  • Server 2008 and Server 2012: C:\Program Data\Intuit\QuickBooks YEAR and C:\Users\**remote user**\AppData\Roaming\Intuit\ YEAR VERSION\TSPrinterSettings
Note: Terminal Service users report finding duplicate copies of the Qbprint.qbp file with the stored client data files; double-check all folders for odd instances.

Once done, proceed with the outlined steps to rename it.

  1. Right-click the QBprint.qbp file for your QuickBooks version and select Rename.
  2. Add the word "old" to the file name (i.e. QBPrint.qbp.old)
  3. Open QuickBooks once again.
  4. Go to the File menu and select Printer Setup.
  5. Select any transaction in the Form Name list and select OK. This will create a new QBprint.qbp file.
Note: You don't have to do this for every transaction.
  6. Go back to the Check and print it to test if it's working correctly.

Checks print "up the page." If I print 3 checks, the last one isn't nearly aligned

Well, I'm running Windows 11. I've gone to C\Program Files\Intuit\QuickBooks 2023, but there is no QBPrint.qbp file.

Thanks for coming back to us, @LeMild

I can see that the QBPrint.qbp file folder is hidden. Allow me to step in and help you display it in the folder. This way, you can rename it and fix the printing issues in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

Here's how:

  1. On your Desktop or System Tray, select the folder icon to open File Explorer.
  2. Choose the View tab.
  3. Select Hidden Items.

Check this article for more details: Display hidden files and folders or search for files using Windows.

If the issue persists, I suggest running a quick fix on your program from the QuickBooks Tools Hub. First, download and install the QuickBooks Tools Hub.

  1. Close QuickBooks.
  2. Download the most recent version (1.6.0.3) of the QuickBooks Tool Hub. Save the file somewhere you can easily find it (like your Downloads folder or your Windows desktop). Note: If you've installed Tool Hub before, you can find out which version you have. Select the Home tab. The version will be on the bottom.
  3. Open the file you downloaded (QuickBooksToolHub.exe).
  4. Follow the on-screen steps to install and agree to the terms and conditions.
  5. When the install finishes, double-click the icon on your Windows desktop to open the tool hub.

Thanks for getting back to the thread, @LeMild

Let me jump into this conversation and provide you with further help to correct the alignment when printing your checks.

Since you're not using a continuous feed, we can perform other troubleshooting steps to help address the issue.

To start, let's run the Print and PDF tool from the QuickBooks Tool Hub. Make sure to download its most recent version (1.6.0.3) and save the file somewhere you can easily find it. Once done, open the tool hub and follow these steps;

  1. In the QuickBooks Tool Hub, select Program Problems.
  2. Select QuickBooks PDF & Print Repair Tool. It'll take about a minute to run.
  3. Try to print the check from QuickBooks Desktop again.

If you're still getting the same results, try reinstalling QuickBooks Desktop

If the issue persists, proceed with the troubleshooting steps listed in this article: Fix printing issues in QuickBooks Desktop.

Please let me know if you have additional questions or concerns about printing checks in the program. I'm always here to help in any way I can. Have a good one.

Checks print "up the page." If I print 3 checks, the last one isn't nearly aligned

I was able to download a program that let find QBPrint.qbp, and I changed it by adding the .OLD to the file. That didn't do anything.

Next, I followed your suggestion and downloaded and ran the repair tool. It's not much better. The checks still run up the page. I've found that if I make the first check print lower, that helps, but what a lousy fix.
Is it possible to get my checks to ALL print correctly and not just one of them? This is crazy.

I recognize everything you've done to get your checks to print correctly, @LeMild. I understand how challenging it is when things don't work as expected, but we'll keep working on it to fix this.

It is indeed possible to have all your checks printed accurately. Most printing issues can be resolved by updating their Adobe Reader/Acrobat to the latest version or repairing their Adobe installation.

You'll need to repair your Adobe installation if you've updated to the latest Adobe Reader/Acrobat version and it hasn't fixed the issue.

  1. Close Acrobat/Reader and all open web browser windows.
  2. Select the Start button at the bottom left of your screen.
  3. Type Control Panel, then press Enter.
  4. Select Programs and Features.
  5. Select Acrobat or Adobe Reader, then Uninstall/Change.
  6. In the Setup dialog box, select Next.
  7. Select Repair, then Next, and choose Install.
  8. When the process is complete, select Finish and restart your computer.

Now, print your checks once again.

If the issue persists, I recommend contacting our technical support team. They possess the necessary expertise to address your concerns thoroughly. Rest assured that, if deemed necessary, they will refer the issue to our engineering department for a more in-depth resolution.

Moreover, if you want to generate a detailed information of your company's payroll expenses, including employee salaries, bonuses, and taxes, you can run a payroll report in QuickBooks Desktop.

You can return here whenever you need assistance printing checks in QuickBooks Desktop. Rest assured that I'm always here to support you.

Why? What does that have to do with anything? I'm confused.

I've spent over 30 minutes on the phone...no one can fix this. This is awful. Truly. It's shameful.

I see that you're unable/unwilling to help me.

I would suggest that instead of "ghosting" your customers, you let them know you can't help them.

I am making the assumption that you're a professional company, and not children who don't know what you're doing. I hope that's correct.

If you happen to search the web and come across this problem, please note:

1) I was given some suggestions here that were useless.

2) I was told to call Quickbooks to see if they could help.

2a) They could not help. I spent over 30 minutes on the phone and was PROMISED a return call.

2b) I received no return help or call.

3) This very website stopped responding altogether.

Quickbooks is expensive, yet they offer no help whatsoever with their questionably faulty product. Please reply here if there's ever a Class-Action Lawsuit. I'd like to be part of it.
