Clarification on Autopay with Variable Invoice Amounts in QuickBooks Online

I am currently using QuickBooks Online and have a question regarding the recurring invoice feature with Autopay.

Specifically, I'd like to know how the Autopay function responds when the "Include unbilled charges" option is used in a recurring invoice template, which could result in a varying invoice amount each cycle.

Will the Autopay feature automatically adjust to the new amount, or will it cancel the automatic payment setup if the invoice amount changes due to the inclusion of unbilled charges?

According to this article, any change in the total amount of a recurring invoice results in the cancellation of Autopay. I'm trying to understand the practicality of using the "Include unbilled charges" option, which could potentially change the invoice amount each cycle. Will using this option also lead to the cancellation of Autopay for those invoices?

Thanks!

I appreciate you clarifying things by adding a fresh post today, Luna. I want to clear things up with you about the Autopay feature.

The Autopay feature follows the amount on the recurring template. Yes. The feature won't work if the invoices include "unbilled charges" or the amounts are modified.

Businesses are too dynamic to think that autopay should be linked to one invoice amount for the life of the vendor/client relationship.  You should have the ability to change the invoice and keep the automated payment.  Asking your customer to restart the automation feature is annoying and is causing me to lose business.
