Our business sells aviation fuel by the gallon. We need to capture gallons sold in fractional amounts sometimes, as in 12.4 gallons or 4.9 gallons. Does this go payment app support entering items in fractional amounts?

Good day, @KM3B5.
It's nice to have you back here in the Community. Allow me to provide some insights about entering decimal amounts on your GoPayments app.
At this time, QuickBooks Online is unable to enter transactions in decimal amounts. This option is only available in the desktop version of QuickBooks. However, I encourage you sharing this idea to our Developers to help you run your business easier. Doing this helps them determine features that needs to be added for future updates. Thank you BettyJaneB for taking the time to answer my question. It prompts another though...when I create an invoice or a new sales receipt in quickbooks, i AM able to enter a decimal amount of gallons of fuel sold. We have quick books online plus w/ payments and are currently using Square Terminal to capture payments but the square doesn't capture the fractional amount without a silly "hack" that does nothing to accurately track fuel sales...so, am I correct in suspecting that the gopayment app doesn't support input of items in decimal format either?? i.e. 5.7 gallons at $4.99/gallon? I can't imagine ours is the only business using fractional amounts of items...help! How can we make this work?
Hello there, @KM3B5.
I appreciate you coming back to us for additional support. Allow me to join this thread and clear this up for you.
Currently, setting up your inventory items with fractional amounts is only available with QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise.
In QBO, the item rate is per quantity and not per unit of measurement. As a workaround, you'll have to manually calculate and adjust the item price whenever you create an invoice or sales receipt.
If you want to consider subscribing to our Enterprise product, please check this link for more details: Choose your QuickBooks Desktop product.
Meanwhile, I will send my own feedback on your behalf, so our management team knows that this is helpful to your business.
Thank you for reaching out to us here, and please let me know if there's anything else I can do to help. Just add a comment below or mention my name.

Hello,
My business is a marina that sells fuel. For the last 3 years we have been using Ipad for a POS at our pumps. We could enter an item "gas" at a price of 3.299 and then enter a quantity of 12.345 gallons. This has worked for 3 years. Since this last gopayment update about 2 weeks ago, it will not work anymore. We can ONLY enter quantity as 12.3 gallons and the price shows as 3.30. This totally throws of our sale numbers off. Why did this happen and it needs to get fixed. I can not operate like this.
Thanks
Hey there, @machodoccreekmar.
Thanks for following the thread. I understand how frustrating it can be when the quantity number changes on you.
Currently, the field only accepts a maximum of two decimal places. Please know this is a limitation of QuickBooks. I see how having the ability to have more would be beneficial for you and your business, so I've personally submitted a feedback request to our product development team to be considered in a future update.
In the meantime, feel free to follow our latest happenings and updates using our Blog Site.

We sell fabrics online and would like to be able to sell in fractional units rather than full yards. We currently use Quickbooks online. From what I have read, while Quickbooks online does not support fractional sales, Quickbooks desktop does. So, two things:
1. I would like to encourage Quickbooks online to be programmed to accept fractional sales.
2. If we were to use Quickbooks desktop for our fabric inventory, purchase orders, invoices and sales is it possible at the end of the day to export the sales data (not inventory) to Quickbooks online?
Thanks
Rich Zieman
Good day, Rich.
We appreciate your suggestion about the ability to set up fractional sales in QuickBooks Online. You can actually send a feature request directly to our engineers from QuickBooks Online. Here's how:
You can also track feature requests through the QuickBooks Online Feature Requests website.
With regards to your question, it is possible to export data from the Desktop version to QBO. However, it is not recommended to do this since the new import will overwrite everything from the old one. There are also types of data and features that will not be included during the import process. Here's an article about this for more details: What To Expect When You Switch From QuickBooks Desktop To QuickBooks Online.

Any updates on using decimals in qty on QB go app?I see someone asked 4 years ago. It should have been fixed in this amount of time.
I am not going to adjust the price to make the total come out right since it looks like you an not e ter decimals. This is ridiculous in 4 years that they have not addressed this issue. Many businesses use partial quantities

I am not going to adjust the price to make the total come out right since it looks like you can not enter decimals in 2023. This is ridiculous in 4 years that they have not addressed this issue. Many businesses use partial quantities.Ithought this .ight be new software but it's obviously even around a while.
I know you need to utilize on add decimals on Quantity, @MCKINNEY. I'll share more insights regarding this topic in QuickBooks Online.
There isn't a timeframe on when this feature will be available in Mobile apps. For now, we encourage submitting feedback to our product developer so they can review this product request and see if they can consider adding this to the next program update.
See the steps below:
Our Product Development team receives your thoughtful comments (QBO) through the feature request link: QuickBooks Online Feature Requests website.
Please feel free to remark with your response. I'm eager to share information with the mobile apps feature in QuickBooks Online topic. Have a great day.
