How can my international clients pay by credit card now, as clients are asked for a ZIP code on entering credit card details? Other countries dont all have ZIPs

Thank you for visiting the Community, @dcook4. Let me share some insights on how your clients can pay using credit card.

For global clients, payments can be done through the QuickBooks platform using credit card, debit card, ACH bank transfer, or Apple Pay. To accept international payments from your clients, you'll need a third-party application because QuickBooks Online (QBO) lacks this feature.

You can also check on how to manage declined credit card payment due to invalid zip code error .

For now, I suggest looking for a 3rd-party app that can integrate with QBO to allow your international clients pay through online using international bank. To do this, you'll need to go in the Apps inside QuickBooks Online.

Here's how:

  1. Click Apps in the left navigation menu.
  2. Search for the keyword in the search bar.
  3. Select the app you want to integrate and review the app if it is what you're looking for.
  4. Click Get App Now and complete the following on-screen instructions.

I've also provided this article to learn about processing a credit card payment in QuickBooks Online.

Please feel free to post an update below if you have additional questions. I'll be more than happy to help you at any time. Take care and have a great day!

@dcook4

What kind of business do you run? You need a 3rd party payment processor to accept international credit cards.

We are a network of independant freight forwarders.

Is the request for a ZIP code a new feature on QB? This has not been a problem in the past

QB seems to have added the request of a ZIP code recently. It is not that the payment requests are "incorrect", instead they cant be completed or submitted.

This is a new change to QB forcing us to 3rd parties.....WHY?

Thanks for bringing this up in the Community, dcook4.

Declined credit card payments are often caused by authorization problems or missing information. You'll want to review the following to avoid your credit cards being incomplete.

I'm adding this article as your reference to learn more about why customers' credit cards are being declined.: Why is my customer's card declined?.

To review and verify the reason for declined payments, I'd recommend reaching out to our Merchant Services team. They can provide ways on how to make sure you'll get notified once there is a declined credit card payment. Here's how to get in touch with them: QuickBooks Merchant Services .

Anything else you need help with or payroll follow-up questions can be answered here in the Community. Just let me know and I'd be here to assist. Have a good one.

Hey Dcook,

I understand you like your process the way it is. If you want to accept international cards but keep operations simple, I can show you a few ways to integrate a processor into QB. It won't be the exact same as using QB payments, but it can be pretty simple if you know what you're looking for.

I work with multiple QB integrations for card and ACH processors, and I can at least get you pointed in the right direction. If you'd like my advice, set up a demo by clicking below:
