How do I re-connect a credit card after the number has changed

I have read through these threads and did the first step which was checking the disconnect after save.  Now I can not find the drop down arrow to relink it.  Old number was comprimised so I was issued a new credit card.  Followed the first set of steps.  After doing that the credit card no longer appears in my Bank transactions, but is in my chart of accounts.  I clicked on the drop down arrow and it only gives me three options....Edit, make inactive and run report.  If I click the edit one it then only allows me to make cahnges to the name but there is nothing that says re-connect as per the instructions in this thread.  Any suggestions?

How do I re-connect a credit card after the number has changed

I appreciate you taking the time to go through the initial steps regarding the reconnection of your new credit card, @Onelayer. Your attention to detail is commendable. Let’s work together to get this sorted out.

I want to clarify some information to ensure we're on the same page in resolving this matter. When you say your credit card number no longer appears in your bank transactions, do you mean the bank tile? If so, this is normal as you disconnect the specific bank account. Once you disconnect them, your existing accounting data won't change and is still available in the Chart of Accounts (COA).

Regarding the options available when trying to reconnect your online banking, those are available if the account is already connected to a bank. In your case, let's ensure we selected the correct account from the COA and follow the steps below:

  1. Click the dropdown arrow on the account you want to connect to your bank.
  2. From the options, select Connect Bank.

  3. Search for your bank institution and enter your login credentials.
  4. Select Continue and the account you want to connect.
  5. Choose an account from the COA to where you want to connect it.
  6. Select a different date to pull transactions from and hit the Connect button.

If you're still unable to see the option to connect after verifying the correct account from the COA, I recommend performing troubleshooting steps that address common problems on a cloud-based application like QuickBooks.

To start, you can log in to your QuickBooks Online (QBO) in a private browser and initiate the connection there. After that, we can clear your browser's cache to prevent this from happening again. You can also use the other supported browsers for a better experience.

Furthermore, you can check out these articles on categorizing your transactions and reconciling your account. Doing so will put your transactions in the correct category and avoid any discrepancies in your books:
