Hi there, Linearcg9155.
Currently, QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale only links to the desktop versions. For QuickBooks Online, you can go to the App Center and look for a third-party application.
Here's how:
I'd also suggest sending feedback to our Product Development Team about this request. To send feedback, log in to your QuickBooks Online account and go to the Gear icon. Then, choose Feedback under User Profile.
All feedback goes to them and everything we update in QuickBooks Online is based on that information.
Feel free to reach out to us if you have other questions or concerns. Thanks.

This company built a tool that syncs POS with QBO. You will need to start a new company file in POS. https://abilitybusiness.com/home/all-addons/ability-financial-exchange-for-quickbooks-online/
It seems odd to me that QuickBooks POS doesn't integrate with QuickBooks online and that Intuit is recommending a third part app to handle POS. Would love to see QB POS integrate with QuickBooks online.
Hey there, @wdylanp,
Currently, Point of Sale only links to desktop versions of QuickBooks. If you're using QBO, you can go to the App website and look for a third-party applications that work best for your program.
Click the following link to visit our website: https://apps.intuit.com/app/apps/home
Also, there's a separate forum for developers where you can find tips and help with program integrations for different applications in QuickBooks. You can visit them through this link: Intuit Developer.
Feel free to post an update if you need further help or need additional assistance. We have helpful contributors in this forum and I'm always here whenever you need a hand.

These folks can help!
We saw the need for a sync tool to connect QBPOS and QBO and decided to develop Ability Financial Exchange (AFE). Our tool gives you the best of both worlds to access to your financials anywhere, managing product in real-time, and a connect QuickBooks Point of Sale.
Check out our website: https://abilitybusiness.com/ability-financial-exchange-for-quickbooks-online/ for more information!
Actually there is another program that integrates QBO with your QuickBooks POS program. Is listed on the Intuit market place. It works similarly to the desktop integration.
Here is the link. https://quickbooks.intuit.com/app/apps/appdetails/qposconnect/en-us/
There are some large chain stores currently using it. The programmers are also willing to make custom changes for retailers with special needs.
Check out the features of Ability Financial Exchange here: https://abilitybusiness.com/compare-ability-financial-exchange-features/
One of the biggest advantages is that inventory is synced so that you can sell at POS but also sell using the QBO App or create special orders to invoice out of QBO.
Does Quickbooks Point of Sale program link to Quickbooks Online yet?
Thank you,
Barb Rogers
Thanks for joining the thread, @BarbRogers123.
This time, QuickBooks Point of Sale (POS) can only integrate with the QuickBooks Desktop version. You'll want to look at another third-party POS application to combine with QuickBooks Online at our Apps Center.
I've also added articles about the details on how to integrate QuickBooks POS with QuickBooks Desktop:

Hi Barb,
QuickBooks POS does not sync with QBO out of the box. You will need a 3rd party app.
Our AFE (Ability Financial Exchange) sync tool connects the two platforms.

Here is a blog as well: https://abilitybusiness.com/sync-quickbooks-pos-with-quickbooks-online/
I download this app, but it didn't give any info on linking to POS 19.0. Is anyone able to help ?
I've come to share further details about linking a POS app to QuickBooks Online (QBO), @kobsenterprise268.
POS 19.0 is an Intuit product that can only integrate with the desktop version of QuickBooks. You'll have to download a third-party POS app that can integrate and link with QBO. To do this, you can either visit the Apps Center or look for one through QBO's Apps menu. Here's how:
Also, I'm adding this article to further guide you in managing the growth of your business using QBO: QuickBooks Help Articles. It includes topics about account management, bank transactions, and vendors and inventory, to name a few. You can click the + More topics button to view other selections. Then, explore video tutorials to learn your way around QuickBooks.
Please keep me posted in the comments below. Let me know if you have other concerns about linking a third-party app with QBO. I'll gladly help. Take care, and I wish you continued success, @kobsenterprise268.
We've done all of this, but there is a tab now asking us to connect our POS ? Are there any instructions for doing this ?
I appreciate the things you've done, kobsenterprise268.
As mentioned by my colleague above, Point of Sale can only be linked to QuickBooks desktop. If you're using QBO, you can choose and integrate a third-party application in our App Center.
To clarify, can you send us a screenshot of the tab you're referring to? Any additional information would help us provide the best resolution for your inquiry.
Once you've gathered a screenshot and I've reviewed it, then I'll be able to determine an answer for you.
In the meantime, you can check out this article to guide you on how to integrate QuickBooks POS with QuickBooks Desktop: Syncs with QuickBooks Desktop.
Fill me in if you have any other concerns or other questions about QuickBooks. I'm always here to back you up.

Which app did you download?
I'm here to share insights about how you can connect your application, @kobsenterprise268.
Ideally, applications with an integrated connection can automatically connect from the Apps menu. Since the issue persists even after following the suggestions shared by my colleague above, it's best to contact the Technical Support Team of QPOS CONNECT.
With their tools, one specialist can pull up your account information and walk you through on how to integrate QuickBooks Online directly from your application. Follow this link for the contact information: Connect QPosConnect with QuickBooks Online.

Don't hesitate to post again here if you have other questions or concerns with QuickBooks application integration. I'm always around happy to help. Stay safe and have a good one!
BAD NEWS, YOU CANT! and 3rd party apps cost Hundreds to set up and OUTRAGES MONTHLY FEES!
QuickBooks, allow these apps to communicate. please do it!
Definitely odd, and quite frankly sloppy work on Intuit's part for not making this work natively out of the box. Shame on them. Not impressed that my only option is a paid solution that is almost as much as Quickbooks online each month.... very disappointing. If my company was not so used to Quickbooks for accounting I would drop them in a heartbeat. The fact I need a third party band aid application to make their own POS software talk to their own online accounting software shows they must not have many folks using Quickbooks POS or just do not care about integrating it to service those Quickbooks POS customers (judging by the lack of solutions as of the date this thread was made a few years ago). Considering their own employees in this thread are pointing people to other companies POS systems and basically saying theirs is lacking in functionality speaks volumes.... like seriously, go look at another 3rd party POS vs. the one we sell? Bush league software.
QPOSConnect actually works well with POS 19.0 - if you create a trial account at qposconnect.com you can message them within the portal and the team has been very responsive to help me set up my sync. It's the best and ONLY solution. (Ability wanted me to start a whole new POS company file - which would mean no historical data in POS). The folks at QPOSConnect are really great and after spending some time with them to get the setup right it's a super option. Highly recommend - wish it was easier to find!
