I am trying to import an iif file of transactions for a vendor already in quickbooks but I keep getting an error saying that the vendor is already in quickbooks. I am able to import it if I change the name but I do not want to have to set up a new vendor every time I import iif files which I will be doing on a regular basis. Is there any way to do this?
Hi there, freyguy.
Thanks for visiting us today. I want to make sure this is taken care of.
For now, you'll need to edit or change your vendors duplicate name to import your IIF files in QuickBooks Desktop. I can imagine the convenience it brings if you're able to import vendor list without having to change a vendors duplicate name.
I'd appreciate if you'd let the Product Development Team know about this option by sending feedback. I have also submitted a product enhancement to hopefully gain this functionality in the future.

This is not correct. You can import a vendor name in an IIF file where the name already exists. Every version of QB since the first has supported this. Even 2019, as messed up as it is, still does.
