Incoming ACH payment declining.

I run a monthly subscription services that is processed by ACH. I purchased an established business and this is my first time dealing with ACH. About 25% of my transactions declined. When I run them they instantly decline. Are funds being verified instantly by QB or could there be another reason? Account and routing numbers are correct as I am looking at voided checks. No decline code is given by QB.

What kind of service business do you run? You might consider having a second payment processor for certain customers to accept ACH payments. You can utilize one payment processor for free to integrate with QBO.

ACH payments can fail because of incorrect bank information or insufficient funds. 

 

Since your account and routing numbers are correct, I'd recommend checking if the funds are sufficient to complete the transactions.

 

If the issue persists, I'd suggest contacting our QuickBooks Support Team. They have full access to your account and can review these payments. They can also determine its cause to ensure it won't happen again.

 

Here's how:

 

  1. Go to the Help (?) icon at the top.
  2. On the Assistant tab, click Talk to a human.
  3. Enter your concern in the Type something field, then click the send icon.
  4. Click on I still need a human.
  5. Choose the Get help from a human tab.
  6. Select Chat with us or Have us call you.

I just spent 1 hour and 20 minutes on the phone with Inuit. Intuit has a problem accepting funds from both Bank of America and Citibank.  Lets say for instance that you sign a big life changing contract with a client that you charge $4000/m and the ACH does not go through, you would think maybe next month it will work. So the client pulls out his/her credit card despite the owners instructions to use ACH as the FEEs for a $4000 transaction is $136 x 12 or $1632 per year on top of your fees for the work. This now becomes a liability for you the Intuit user. You are now charging more than the agreed to amount. When the owner audits the report to see that 6 or 7 vendors are charging an extra $12,000 to $20,000 in credit card fees... an investigation starts. The owner now wants a report from accounts payable to audit and determine if there's a cheaper way to get these services. Now the intuit users job is at risk. The work flow that normally should just happen every month is now being looked at and criticized and your job is now at risk. Intuit. Can you please accept payments from Citibank and Bank of America. Its been years. Really.

I understand how important it is to accept payments from Citibank and Bank of America. I checked to see and saw that you had posted the same concern more than once.

If you are running a B2B company, you can utilize a 3rd party payment processor for free to accept ACH payments as your backup.
