For context, I use QuickBooks online and the desktop overlay for QuickBooks Online. I have a Mac and I am trying to use a POS receipt printer made by Volcora. The receipt printer is an 80mm printer.
Whenever I attempt to print a receipt, it becomes a pdf in QuickBooks before I can print. Then when I print, only the left most characters of the receipt are printed. Everything on the right disappears. Even when I attempt different orientation (both with landscape and portrait).
I would like to print the small receipts for my customers but i am unable to do that.
1. How can someone access printer settings in QuickBooks online?
2. How does one make sure that receipts automatically print before becoming pdfs?
3. How can one ensure the proper alignment and fit for receipt printers?
I appreciate the details you've shared to help rectify your concern and allow me to share insights, @benzau.
For your first question, when QuickBooks Online (QBO) prints sales forms like sales receipts, it will route you to download or print the PDF record. We're unable to modify the print settings in the system. That said, You can contact Desktop Overlay and POS receipt printer service provider on how to rectify this since we don't have any info from them. They may have settings that allow QBO to print receipts directly and ensure proper receipt alignments.
For your second and third questions, consider using a third-party application to integrate with QuickBooks Online to help you print sales receipts directly to the POS printer before becoming PDFs and save the data into our system. And at the same time will also allow you to modify print alignment settings to fit receipts for the printer.
Though I can't suggest a POS application that will suit your needs, please check our QuickBooks Online Apps website to find one and utilize their contact details for inquiries.
I'm adding these articles if you need more info about processing payments directly with QuickBooks Online, like receiving payments through e-check, credit card, or ACH bank transfer. See these links: Process payments in the GoPayment app and Print receipts in GoPayment on your Android.

What kind of business do you run? If you are running a retail company, use an inventory management app with mobile field sales feature.
I am running a retail inventory business.
The inventory management app costs $109 per month for 3 mobile device. You can connect it to mobile printers. The printing quality is defined in Printer resolution and is 150 dpi by default. Also, you can set Paper size to 2 inch or letter. The app works with PrintHand - a cloud-printing solution that ensures the communication of your mobile device with office or mobile printers, irrespective of where you are. Once you have configured printers in PrintHand, set the resolution and paper size. the app will start sending documents directly to the printing app. You might also want to try and look for a PrintService that would work with your printer on Google Play. Download it to your Android device and let the app use its printing capabilities. You may find these two options more handy as a wider range of printer models are supported by these printing solutions.
