Which eCommerce platform do you have?

He is just starting out, and we were going to use QB Premier Desktop for the accounting module.  His website will be using Shopify for processing payments.  In further research, I am seeing that QBO provides more options for inventory applications that integrate than with QB Desktop. 

In term of the cost, using QBD is a better option. You may purchase a one time license of QBD 2021 Premier for 1 user worth $499 and purchase a new QBD 2024 later. The downside, the availability of connector for Shopify is very limited. You may consider Webgility as one of the options. Contact us in private should you interest to purchase it with a discounted rate.

You may still consider using QBO, if you don't mind to pay it for good.

Check out Fishbowl, they are the best for inventory management in QBD. They also integrate with CardConnect for in-person or online payments if that's helpful.
