Hello,
One of my clients is migrating from QBO to Simple Practice. They will still be using QBO but will be importing data from Simple Practice. Does anyone have experience with this?
Thank you!
Do you need to migrate data from QBO to Simple Practice or another way around?
Hello there, @haysjones6.
Yes, we have received this kind of scenario in which customers want to import data from one account to another. I'd be glad to share some details about the process.
When moving your company information, you can only export and import lists such as Chart of Accounts, Vendor, Customer, and Product and Services. Let me show you how.
Once done you can now import them. You can view this article for detailed steps on each list: Move your lists to QuickBooks Online.
For the transactions, manually enter them in your company. This is to ensure all the data is recorded in QBO. Click here for more information about the process.
In case you want to entirely move your company file to the other account, you can consider using a third-party application. Just visit our QuickBooks App Center and look them over to get a better comparison of these apps to see if one meets your needs.
If the two accounts have the same login credentials when signing up, you can go ahead and click the Gear icon at the top to Switch Company in case you need to use QBO Simple Start or vice versa.
I'm also adding this article to further guide you in effectively managing your business using QBO: Help guide for QuickBooks Online. It contains topics about advanced accounting, banking, and payments to name a few.
Feel free to comment below if you need additional information about importing data or if I can be of further assistance. Take care and enjoy the rest of the week
Can you please address the process of importing from SimplePractice to QBDs? Is there anything the client should before importing the file?
Let's import your SimplePractice to QBDT, @Novice Bookkeeper.
You can import bank transactions, general journal entries, and batch transactions in QBDT. This can be done with MS Excel and using CSV files, import IIF files, and many more ways to transfer information in QuickBooks.
For the process, make sure to consult SimplePractice support advice on what data can be exported from the system that can be imported in QuickBooks. This way, you can distinguish what file format is best when importing SimplePractice data into QBDT.
You can reference this article for more details on what information can be moved to QBDT: Import and export data in QuickBooks Desktop.
Please let me know if you have other concerns with moving data from another financial software application to QuickBooks. I'm anytime ready to step in to help. Have a great day ahead.
If you are not familiar with IIF, you may utilize an importer tool starting from CoA, Lists, then Transactions.
