Buy nowIs there a way to text message clients invoices. Everything I have researched so far it appears that you USED to be able to do this, but for some reason QBO turned it off. Now their only suggestion is to copy the link and text it yourself. This defeats the purpose.
So 1st question - is there some workaround to turn this on in QBO
2nd question - if not, has anyone had any success with an APP that links to QBO that can assist with this. I tried to link Message Desk and that was a nightmare from the get go.
Any suggestions are appreciated!
I know how important it is to be able to text message clients' invoices. However, the feature is currently only supported in the old invoice layout. I have some alternative solutions that you can use, marcycpa.
If your customer has QuickBooks Payments and has chosen to receive text notifications, you can easily send them invoices through a text message. To do so, follow the steps outlined below:
For customers not using QuickBooks Payment, you still have the option to send invoices via text by sharing the invoice link. Here's how:
We currently cannot provide a recommendation if you're looking for a specific application. Nevertheless, QuickBooks Online (QBO) works with various applications that you may find useful. Just navigate to the Apps menu and select Find apps.

I sincerely appreciate your prompt response and willingness to help. However, as a QuickBooks staff member, I believe it’s crucial to ensure that responses are both accurate and directly address the question at hand. My specific inquiry was about how to send an invoice directly via text message through QuickBooks. Manually copying and texting a link from our office phone doesn’t present the same level of professionalism. Could you clarify why this feature was removed?
Additionally, my question regarding apps was intended for other CPAs in the community who may have discovered a workaround. Given the fees we pay QuickBooks each month, this functionality should ideally be available.
Your efforts in following up on this topic have not gone unnoticed, Marcycpa. As someone who also depends on QBO for accurate and efficient bookkeeping, I recognize your feelings about texting invoices being more efficient than manually copying and pasting links.
Nevertheless, if you have a QuickBooks Payments subscription, you can follow the steps outlined by my colleague above and send invoices directly to your clients through text.
Furthermore, if you haven't signed up for QBO Payments yet and want to begin sending invoices through text message, you can apply directly on their website or sign up through your existing QBO account. I'll show you how:
Moreover, please note that the QuickBooks Payments account is subject to eligibility criteria, credit, and application approval. To learn more about this process and the agreements, check out these guides:

QuickBooks Online doesn’t currently have a built-in feature to send invoices via text, and as you mentioned, their workaround is just copying the invoice link manually, which isn’t ideal. As for third-party apps, some users have had success with Podium and Thryv, which integrate with QBO and allow SMS invoicing.
Another option could be 3-rd party tools, which can automate sending invoice links via SMS through Twilio or other messaging services. It might take some initial setup, but once configured, it should save time compared to manual texting.
Thank you so much for your help.
