The connection to links.notification.intuit.com is not secure

Link for "Review and Pay" in generated invoice email does not support https - secure connection. Consequently, browsers will prevent access. The link format is:

I'm here to share some information that can help you with accessing the Review and Pay link, @SethSea.

They can copy the link by right-clicking the Review and Pay button on the invoice email. Paste the link into the address bar of a web browser. If the link still won't open, switch to a different browser.

Once your customers can see an error message, you can suggest them to use either Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Safari. Here's more information on what they can do if they can't pay for an invoice you send them in QuickBooks: What to do if customers can't pay their invoices online.

You can also let them clear their browser’s cache. Refer to this article for detailed guidance on how to do it: Clear cache and cookies to fix issues when using QuickBooks Online

To know when QuickBooks deposits customer payments into your bank account, refer to this article: Find out when QuickBooks Payments deposits customer payments.

I'm always here if you need further help processing customer payments or access the Review and Pay button. Let me know by leaving a reply below. Have a great rest day of the day!

Thank you for providing this information. As it turns out the problem cleared up on its own the next day. It appears it might have been an issue with a certificate associated with the URL. When the problem occurred it was on a Mac using Chrome and Safari.

Again, thank you for the thoughtful reply.

This does NOT appear to be an actual resolution. Many browsers now are warning EVERY time you visit a link that is not HTTPS. The links generated in these invoice emails are HTTP, which is going to cause this problem eventually for everyone.

This is still an issue because the certificate doesn't match the name and all updated browsers are going to warn before allowing to proceed to the site.  A well known, trusted company like intuit should install the correct certificate for the website to avoid this issue.

this is the solution? Report the problem. I not only use QBO as a business owner. I pay many bills from vendors this way and when I click on their emailed link, it's being blocked. I've tried everything and it is blocked in every browser and on my phone. Help!!

Welcome back to the QuickBooks Community, DCoop. I appreciate your efforts to resolve the emailed links being blocked. I can see how vital it is to open it quickly and pay your bills.. Let's perform another step so you can access these links and achieve your goal.

Since it's blocked in every browser, I recommend configuring their settings and changing it to Allowed. This enables the browser to access the emailed link seamlessly. Please select the appropriate one below.

For Google Chrome, here's how:

  1. Open Chrome and choose More. Then, select Settings.
  2. Choose Advanced.
  3. Under Privacy and security, select Content settings.
  4. Choose Pop-ups and redirects.
  5. Switch the setting to Allowed.

Safari:

  1. Choose Safari and select Preferences.
  2. Select Security.
  3. Uncheck the Block pop-up windows box to enable pop-ups.

You can open this article to see extra details or other steps to be taken based on the browser you're using: Why doesn't anything happen when I select a button or link?

If the issue continues to occur, you have to open the emails using a private browser. This is to rule out the possibility of a webpage issue, and private browsing doesn't store local files or cache.

Use these keyboard shortcuts based on the browser you're using:

  • For Firefox or Microsoft Edge, press Ctrl + Shift + P.
  • For Chrome, press Ctrl + Shift + N.
  • For Safari, hold down Command + Shift + N.

If it works, you need to clear the cache of the regular browser. This removes the history or log of sites to start with a clean slate. If the steps above don't work, use another supported browser as an alternative.

On the other hand, reporting the problem to Intuit Online Security or to our Support Team isn't needed once the issue has been resolved by following the steps outlined above.

Lastly, refer to this article to further guide you in effectively managing your business using QBO: Help guides for QuickBooks Online. It contains topics about advanced accounting, banking, and payments to name a few.

Don't hesitate to add a comment below if you need more help accessing an emailed link to pay your bills. I'm always around to help, DCoop. Take care always!

This reply is so bad it should be reported. You cannot tell every single customer to weaken their browser settings by enabling popups.

The correct answer is:

Intuit will update their email templates to change from http:// to https:// so everyone who gets these doesn't get a warning from their browser that the site they are clicking on to pay an invoice is insecure and they should not proceed.

I second dflo16.

Does intuit really think that a *customer* is going to try to troubleshoot this? They're just going to reach out to us directly and ask for an alternate payment method, which at least partially defeats the automated invoicing & self-pay features that we're paying fees for.

We just moved to using intuit invoicing last October and it's been nothing but terrible since then. I am ASTONISHED that a SECURITY ISSUE is being brushed off like this.

Do better, Intuit. Do. Better.

This is still the case in the invoice emails I receive from [email address removed] even now. The computer program that writes invoices and emails them is very outdated and in 2024 I would even call an "http-no-'s'://" URL a bug. It has been known for a very long time that even moderately important web addresses should be linked using https instead of http. Just file a bug report, get someone to find it and fix it.

diff a/your/old-af-code b/your/old-af-code

@somewhere

- scheme = "http";

+ scheme = "https";

I just got a call from a customer that says she will  not use an insecure site to make a payment.  I sent myself a test invoice and went to pay it, and low and behold, NOT SECURE.

The answers from QB experts above is unsatisfactory.  No one is going to go through all those steps just to pay their bill.

PLEASE FIX THIS PROBLEM IMMEDIATELY.

Intuit, It is 2024 and you really should not be using unencrypted http servers, for any use whatsoever.  Even just a server that just redirects email links over to your payment system.

Please have one of your interns to google "http is insecure" and report back to you about why it is bad to have *anything*  served on the internet without SSL encryption.
