Transferring Stored Credit Card #'s/Tokens to a Different Processor/Gateway

Hello!

I'm using QuickBooks Desktop with Intuit Payments, and I have several customers' credit card #'s stored with Intuit.

Is it possible to migrate or transfer these stored credit card #'s from Intuit to a different processor/gateway??

I've heard other processors and gateways such as Authorize.net can accommodate this.  And they'd do so by sending a secure encrypted file with full card #'s directly from one processor/gateway to another.

Is this an option with Intuit and what's the process to do so?

THANKS!

Brad

Transferring Stored Credit Card #'s/Tokens to a Different Processor/Gateway

Transferring stored credit card numbers from Intuit Payments to a different processor or gateway is unavailable, Brad.

Intuit will not permit direct transfers of stored card numbers or tokens to another processor for security reasons. It is to protect sensitive customer information and ensure compliance with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS).

Alternatively, you can contact customers to update their payment information with the new processor.

If you’re considering a switch to Authorize.net or another gateway, you can ask them if they have specific procedures or recommendations for handling the migration.

Transferring Stored Credit Card #'s/Tokens to a Different Processor/Gateway

Happy Friday and thanks Maybelle I appreciate the reply!

Is this based on Intuit's internal policy?  When I spoke to the processor I'm considering switching to, they didn't seem to have any PCI concerns with importing or exporting card data, as long as it was sent securely and encrypted directly from one processor to another.

If based on Intuit's internal policy, is there any means of requesting an exception here?  Or paying a fee to accommodate?

Yes, this policy aligns with Intuit's security measures to protect sensitive customer information and ensure compliance with PCI DSS standards, Brad.

While I understand that your new processor has no concerns about securely importing or exporting card data, Intuit's policy is designed to prevent any potential vulnerabilities that could arise during such transfers.

That said, I cannot guarantee the possibility of an exception or that paying a fee would accommodate your situation. However, you are encouraged to contact QuickBooks Payments Support team directly to formally request and confirm if they’ll allow your situation. You can refer to this article to contact them directly with their number: Contact Payments Support.

Additionally, if Intuit does allow the transfer, it is advisable to contact your customers directly to inform them about the potential transfer of their personal information, in accordance with Intuit's Global Privacy Statement. This will ensure they are aware and able to exercise their privacy rights regarding such data.
