Hello, Is it possible to set a limit on how early an employee can clock in, and how late they can clock out. IE, 5 minutes early or 5 minutes late, without needing a supervisor to approve the punch? this for Tsheets Kiosk
I am not sure TSheets has that feature yet. You may find it on another time tracker app. You will create a punch limiting rule and specify how many minutes before or after a shift an employee is allowed to punch time. You'll then want to assign the necessary employees to the rule.
I am wondering the same thing. We have been using tsheets without scheduling and are just getting started on this. I would like to have 7:30 as the earliest anyone can clock in..... Meaning if they clock in at 7:15 their time does not start until 7:30..... Is there a way to do this?
I see the feature available on another app.
Good morning, @Sam142 and @larirg! I'm glad to see you both in the Community with this question. I'm happy to explain your options with QuickBooks Time and these notifications,
If you use the schedule in QuickBooks Time, you're able to set up alerts for when employees clock in early or late to that shift. There's also a schedule report called "Tardies" that will give you the amount of times an employee was late clocking into their shift.
As far as being able to limit the time users can clock in, that's not available in QuickBooks Time right now. I'd definitely recommend reaching out to our developers and requesting this feature. It's really important for us to know what would make our customers' business run smoother and how we can improve.
Here's an article walking you through how to leave that feedback: Submit feedback to QuickBooks Time.
Please feel free to reply to this post with any questions you may have. All of us here in the Community are eager and happy to help!
This is sorely missing from this product. wold be easy to have option to set a # of minutes before shift one can clock in
Thanks for joining this thread, brentj.
I can certainly understand how an option to set limits for when team members can clock in/out could be useful and have submitted a suggestion about it as of today.
You can also submit your own feature requests while signed in.
Here's how:
Your feedback's definitely valuable to Intuit. It will be reviewed by our Product Development team and considered in future updates. You can find news about your product on our Product Updates webpage.
Please feel welcome to send a reply if there's any questions. I'll be here to help. Have a great day!
Has this been added to a development sprint for a future release? Would love to have this feature available.
Is this available yet? If not, has it been added to a development sprint for an upcoming release? Would love to have this feature added!
It was 100% available before Quickbooks took over TSheets...now with it gone I'm considering canceling the service

then switch to a 3rd party time tracker app with this feature to integrate with QBO.
Has this changed yet?

Is there a way for me to set a time window that our staff can clock in. For example, the issue we have is that they are clocking in 15-20 minutes early and we only want them to be able to clock in as early as 7:55 am.
Hello there, @Cassie S.
Currently, setting a limit for users to clock in isn't possible in QuickBooks Time. I understand how important this feature working for you and your business. With that, I suggest sending feedback to our product developer. This way, they can add it for future updates.
Here's how:

Let me know if you have other questions. I'm always here to help. Take care.
What I'm gathering from this thread is that a simple feature, which would take the development team less than a single day to implement, and has been requested many times over a 3 year period, is still not available within QB Time.... while almost all competing time clock providers currently offer it.... I'd like to simply add the time-clock feature to my existing QB subscription, but this clearly will never be an option. smh....
search and you can find several HR articles about why locking (or modifying) clock-ins is a bad idea. though I wanted the same thing. Better to write them up when they break the rules. it's easy for them to file a wages and hours complaint and they can say they were doing even a little work while waiting to be allowed to clock in. those cases can be costly to lose, I hear
This feature is needed badly . I cannot believe they do not have it yet. I may have to switch down the road.
You should explore 3rd party apps.
So when will it be available? That is one of the big problems with Quickbooks. Someone comes on the chat and tries not to answer the question with a bunch of fake concerns and empathy, then gives data and solutions not related to the question. Either say it will or will not be a feature and move on. It's a sorely needed feature, but QB does not care, although they say they do.
Setting a limit for users to clock in and out of QuickBooks Time is a great functionality, colonelgk. It'll help employees track their time accurately without requiring constant approval.
I'm here to share additional insights about this functionality.
At this time, our Product Development Team doesn't have a turnaround time on when this feature will be available in QuickBooks Online. Rest assured that they are continuously working on improving the program's functionalities.
I can see how beneficial it is to have this option added. I encourage sending feedback to our Product Development Team about this. To do so, simply follow these steps:
Additionally, there are other features and various reports that you can utilize in QB Time to help you manage your employee and payroll data. Please browse these resources to learn more about this:
I appreciate your patience in this matter. You can get back on this thread to stay informed if there are any updates regarding the availability of the option. If you have any other questions about the program's features, please don't hesitate to keep us posted.
I would think it shouldn't be too hard for your developers since it was an active feature when you bought out tsheets.
How can this not be available when it was in Tsheets? Is this yet to be on a timeline?
Intuit is number one when it comes to ignoring and caringlittle about what its customers have to say or want. The whole company was offshored and gutted. No one is in charge. Took a great product and ruined it. We will never get this feature.
Setting limitations on clocking into Tsheets is convenient indeed, Alicia. While I don't have a specific timeline for now, I can assure you that we're constantly working on enhancing our platform.
It's always our goal to provide tools that make your work as seamless and efficient as possible. If you haven't, you'll want to submit a request to our developers. Your feedback is invaluable in helping us prioritize future updates.
