Turn off mileage auto calculate in QB Time

I'm hoping someone can help. When I uncheck Auto calculate and manually enter miles in a time entry, QuickBooks Time does not save the mileage entry, and when I open up the time entry again, Auto calculate is rechecked. Is there any way to turn this off?

Turn off mileage auto calculate in QB Time

I understand how important it is to turn off mileage auto-calculate in QuickBooks Time, Jen. I'd be glad to share insights about this.

If you uncheck the "Auto calculate" option next to Miles, the mileage calculation will be turned off automatically. We can perform basic troubleshooting steps to fix this.

To start, please open your browser's private window. It isolates the cache, which is the common cause of a browser's unusual behavior.  Here are the keyboard shortcuts:

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl Shift N
  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl Shift P
  • Microsoft Edge: press Ctrl Shift P
  • Safari: press Command Shift +N

If you can log in to your account successfully, clear the cache in the browser to prevent this from happening again. An excessive amount of cached data may cause QuickBooks to perform oddly. If you have another supported browser, you can choose that instead.

Turn off mileage auto calculate in QB Time

Hi Leizy. I tried what you suggested, but it didn't work. Here are the steps I took;

  1. Opened a private browsing session
  2. Clicked Edit on the time entry I wanted to add mileage to
  3. Unchecked Auto calculate
  4. Entered the number of miles in the Miles field
  5. Clicked Save

When I open the time entry back up, the miles are not saved and Auto calculate is rechecked.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention, JenC1.

I can see how this strange behavior in your mileage tracking feature hindered you from completing other business duties. Let me make it up to you and ensure you're routed to the appropriate channel that can address this issue on time.

Based on the scenario, we'll have to review the setup of your account and the mileage tracking function. This helps identify why the Auto calculate function is turned on again (after deactivating).

That being said, I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Time Care Team. They can perform in-depth troubleshooting in a secure space. When the issue is identified and a solution becomes available, our specialists will assist you in implementing the permanent fix.

Here's how to reach them:

  2. Click the Contact Us button to see more options
  3. Enter a brief description of the issue or concern in the What can we help you with? box and click Continue to proceed.
  4. In the How would you like to connect with us? screen, tap the Chat with us button to start a conversation, or Have us call you to schedule a callback.
