This would work if QB would complete the fix in the software. However, all critical updates have been done, however, QB only shows the 2 form to a page option. Even when completing the printer setup steps.
Nope - that does not work. I just tried it and it's still only two to a page.
Nope - this doesn't work either. I just tried it and still two to a page.
That's all fine and dandy, but what about those that are still using the 2 up 1099 forms? The W2's allow you to choose which form set-up you are using, but the 1099-NEC is forcing to only print in 3 up forms? The 1099-MISC still allows 2 up forms, so its a bit frustrating that QB is not giving the option to choose which form to print on for 1099-NEC. Since its time sensitive, guess Im making a trip back to the local Office Depot today.
The IRS is requiring NEC's to be 3 ups this year - you cannot print NEC's on 2 ups.
You may think all of the critical updates have been run......I did, but when you check the box on the Update QuickBooks Desktop, Update now tab at the bottom - Rese Update it comes up with more. I had 5 or 6 individual updates that required me to restart the program and my computer to have them install. Even being on release 78 - way past what is required, I was still having problems until I kept running it until nothing else downloaded and installed. I also on 2 of the updates that wouldn't finish installing, I had to close the program and right click on the QB icon and choose Run as Administrator for them to install.
My error!! Must not have had enough caffine or pulled the MISC thinking it was NEC because when I looked again, it did have the 3 up.
I did all of these things. I updated to Enterprise 2022. I did the updates to it. I ran the Tool Hub print and repair tool. Still 2 up. I've tried Enterprise 2019, 2021, 2022. Updates and repairs to all of them. Still 2 up 1099-NEC. Client is getting upset. I've spent about 10 non-billable hours trying to make this work and still nothing.
Hi! I have updated my QuickBooks desktop 2021 to the latest release, but my 1099 NEC forms are still printing 2 to a page instead of 3 to a page. Please let me know what I can do.
Thanks,
Yvonne DeWoskin
I have Premier 2019 Desktop and did the updates. Before I did the update, the only issue I had was the format was 2 per page instead of 3. Now, after the update, when I am going through the steps for NEC forms, it has everything mapped to MISC. Box 15. It does not allow me to change it to Box 1.
I am also running Windows 11.
I have done the updates twice and restarted my computer but it is still printing two forms per page instead of 3. Any ideas of what I am doing wrong?
Hello,
We have Quickbooks Premier Nonprofit Edition 2021 and i have installed updates as of January 13, 2022 and our 1099-NEC are still printing 2 per sheet. I need it to print 3 per sheet. Is there something else I need to do?
Thank you!
Hello everyone!
I'm here to help you with the 1099-NEC.
I understand that you already updated your QuickBooks Desktop. Let's double-check the release version to make sure you have the 1099-NEC upgrade. Check the following by using the F2 key on your keyboard:
If not, I suggest you update your QuickBooks Desktop again.
If you're using QuickBooks Desktop in a multi-user environment, you'll also want to inform the other users to log out before you update QuickBooks Desktop. This is to make certain that the entire file is updated.
You'll also want to tweak your anti-virus and firewall settings. Some anti-virus software prevents updates from being downloaded.
In terms of mapping, keep in mind that a single account can only be used for one type of 1099. If the account is mapped to the 1099-MISC instead of the 1099-NEC, we can modify it. Take the following steps:
Return to the 1099-NEC account mapping once you've finished. You can now select the appropriate box for this account.
I added this link if you encountered issues in printing: Troubleshoot Issues With Printing And PDF Files.
Please continue to post if you have other concerns. Take care!
does not work. they are telling me now i have to upgrade and buy a new version (I have Premier Contractor 2021 which is less than a year old) WITH PAYROLL (that I don't use) in order to print my 1099s!!! Hello???? Sending out 1099's is because we don't employ these vendors and so it stands to reason for mom & pop businesses with no employees, why would we buy payroll in order to print 1099s???? Can anyone with a 2021 edition who does NOT have payroll actually print 1099s with you current program? Mine is fully updated as per these instructions
Hi @bpalmer1078 ,
In order to remap the accounts you need to first Omit them from the 1099 (MISC or NEC), then go through the whole process again and map them to the appropriate account. I had to do this with several of my clients' files, but not with others. Go figure...
Good Luck.
I did the critical fix update and updated everything and QB is still printing two per page for NEC
Hi @tdrhodes.
Thanks for checking for help with your 1099 forms. Let's start by checking which release you currently have on your QuickBooks.
To confirm which release you have, hit the F2 button when logged in to QuickBooks, this opens the Product Information screen, look at the release version extension...it'll be the underscore and a number.
If your product information shows the release version and extension listed above or higher, you’re good to go and have the capability to print the 3 part 1099 forms. If your product release and version is lower than those listed, you’ll need to update your QuickBooks.
It’s important to make sure to update QuickBooks to the latest release. I've outlined the steps below:
Once you’ve gone through the update process, hit F2 again and confirm the release version and extension has updated. If not, try updating again.
A few things to keep in mind:
Once you've successfully updated your release and version R8_62 or higher, and restarted your QuickBooks, you will have the 3 part forms available.
I'd love to hear how it goes! Feel free to reach out with any other questions or if I can help with anything else.
I did the critical update. I am now on Quickbooks Premier 2021 Release 8_72. So now when I try to print the 1099-nec form, nothing will print. I try to do a "Preview" nothing displays. So I tried to print them, nothing prints.
Please help!
Thank you
Michele
Thank you AlexV and MonicaM3. I have run another update. When I press F2 it says R8_72. If I click get updates, it says no files downloaded, so I think I have the latest version. When I go to print the NEC now nothing prints. Not even the 2 per page like before. I can print reports, so its not a printer issue. Any other suggestions?
I had the same issue..... go to the help from the top tool bar and down to Update QuickBooks Desktop and go to the tab update now screen and click the box Reset update and then Get updates again. Sounds like there are 3 or 4 more for you to go. When it prompts you to close the program to update, then right click on the QB incon and choose Run as Administrator to get them to install. Keep doing these until there is nothing left to install.
Hello! How I can update QB 2018 desktop in order to print 1099 NEC form 3 per sheet? Thank you
I followed the directions for the update and restarted my computer. Upon re-opening Quick Books the format for printing 2021 1099 NEC forms was still two per page instead of 3. Seeking guidance.
now I am really messed up. I was getting two per page. After updating to version R3_78, now on the Map Vendor Payment Accounts my payments for 1099-NEC are saying they are "MISC Box15: State Tax Withheld" AND it won't let me alter this selection. Therefore nothing will print because QB thinks that there is nothing to report. Please Help.
same for me!
Here is what I did Think this is working. Go into the mapping for form MISC and when it gets to the mapping payments, click on the drop down menu and select omit payments.
Now go into the mapping for NEC and then you can access the drop down menu to choose Box 1 or whatever you need.
This has made my payments show up now. Haven't checked to see whether I have 2 or 3 to a page but at least I have the right info on the form.
