Adding new accounts

Thanks for reaching out to the QuickBooks Community. I hope you're having a great day so far. 

You can create up to five subaccounts for each parent account in QuickBooks Online. I'm including some steps below to help walk you through the process. 

1. In the Account Type ▼ dropdown, select the account type.
2. In the Detail Type ▼ dropdown, choose the detail type.
3. Enter the name of the account, then add a description.
4. Click on the Is sub-account checkbox, then enter the parent account in the Enter parent account ▼ dropdown.
5. Tap on the start date of your opening balance in the ▼ dropdown. Then, enter your opening balance in the Account balance field.
6. Select Save and Close.
