ADP Workforce now GL will not import to QB Online

We use ADP Workforce Now for our payroll processing.  We cannot get out GL to import into QB Online and we have tried and retried to set it up.  I read that ADP RUN works really well with this, however it is recommended for businesses with less than 50 employees, and we have about 225 between 2 companies.  What are we doing wrong?  Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you.

Glad to have you here in the Community, @ajones1980. I'm here to help you import your payroll data to QuickBooks.

How data migrates to QuickBooks Online (QBO) depends on the features available in the integrated app. If you can't import payroll data, consider creating a journal entry instead. This way, we can ensure that your payroll transactions are inside the program. Follow the steps below to create a journal entry.

Here's how:

  1. Click + New.
  2. Select Journal entry.
  3. From the first line, select an account from the Account field. It depends on if you need to debit or credit the account. Enter the amount in the correct column.
  4. On the line, choose the other account you're moving money to or from. Depending on if you entered a debit or credit on the first line, enter the same amount in the opposite column.
  5. Check the amounts - you should have the same amount in the Credit column on one line and the Debit column on the other. It means the accounts are in balance.
  6. Enter information in the memo section to know why you made the journal entry.
  7. Select Save and new or Save and close.

Moreover, I suggest working with your accountant for proper guidance on selecting the affected accounts when creating a journal entry.

Also, you can look for a third-party application that can help import your payroll data by navigating the QuickBooks App Store.

Finally, I have a link you can read for additional guidance in managing your transactions in QBO: Categorize online bank transactions.

Don't hesitate to comment below if you need further assistance importing data to QuickBooks. I'm always here to help. Have a great day.

ADP Workforce now GL will not import to QB Online

Hello again.  We have tried using the AXIS app with no luck.  When it imports the files, instead of using our cash accounts, it creates the same accounts as expense accounts.  What are we doing wrong?

I understand the importance of accurately categorizing our imported payroll data into the correct accounts, jones.

As my colleague mentioned, QuickBooks relies on the features available in the integrated app. Alternatively, if you have experienced difficulties with the import process, you may consider creating a journal entry. Also, I highly suggest seeking an accountant or tax professional to offer additional assistance and ensure you're on the right track.

Moreover, you can explore the QuickBooks App Store or directly navigate to the Apps menu in QuickBooks Online (QBO) and find third-party applications that work well with the program, ensuring seamless procedures.

Lastly, I've included some articles to help you import and export your data with QBO:

This did not answer my question. We have been doing journal entries.  Who can I talk to about the AXIS app? We are following the import directions and its doing this.

Hi @ajones1980

I saw your question regarding using the Zed Axis app to import an IIF Journal Entry from ADP and making it recognise your Cash Accounts in your General Ledger but it is creating Expense Accounts instead.

Can you check that you are using the Full Account name ie it the Cash Account is a sub account of another account link BOA Checking:Cash Account  as Axis matches on the GL Account Full Name, alternatively you could use the Account Number if you are using those.

Hope that helps.
