Billable Expenses in Desktop

My client has several billable expenses in the Unbilled Costs by Job report and I need to remove them. He is using Quickbooks Desktop Contractor Edition. I understand that you can hide these expenses and that will pretty much tell Quickbooks to uncheck these as billable, but I don't think that this will work in my case. The reason why these expenses are on the report is because he added them to a customer invoice, but then wanted to move the item and did so by cutting and pasting. Well, when he cut the line, Quickbooks thought that the item needed to go back into unbilled. I hope that makes sense. Another problem is that these items are linked to a Construction in Progress account. If I 'hide" these items, they are just going to sit in the Construction in Progress account. These items were actually already billed to the customer and I can't have them sitting in the Construction in Progress account. Is there another way to clean up this report? Thank you for your help!

We have two options to resolve this, Jenn-Harmonized. I'm here to guide you.

First, you'll have to open the invoice, add the billable expenses, then remove the items that can cause duplicates or discrepancies.

The second is you can delete and recreate the invoice. Then, add the billable expenses.

Both options can help you clear the report.

Once done, you can open the Unbilled Costs by Job report again and check if it's all cleared. You can also customize the report so you can focus on the details that matter to you.

I was hoping that I wouldn't have to touch the invoices because his invoices can be pretty complex and he has them organized a certain way. I will play around with this idea and figure it out. Thanks so much for your help!
