This isn't the kind of experience we want to leave you with, @Luckyme502.
I have some information about the shortage amount or quantity when building assemblies. As my colleague @Giovann_G mentioned, our engineers are still working diligently on getting this fixed.
I recommend contacting our Customer Care Support so we can add your file to the list of affected users. This way, you'll be notified whenever a resolution update is available.
Here's how to reach out:
Once you're able to get in touch with our live representatives, provide this investigation number INV-19434 for easy tracking.
In the meantime, you can follow the suggestion recommendation of my peer above (manually count on the short build assemble to have the correct number) as a workaround.
Furthermore, here's a link that'll help you manage vendor-related tasks. It has topics with articles to guide you along: Enter expenses, pay bills, write checks, and manage suppliers.
I'll be right here if you have other questions about building assembly items. Don't hesitate to reply. Take care and have a good one.
We experienced another issue - this one with recording credit card chargers and our merchant account. After hours on the phone, they again punted the ball saying they could not fix our issue. We've experienced other similar issues over the years. So much so, that we are actively looking for a replacement product for our enterprise.
I have 4 builds dating back to January that are in pending mood. I can't change the date to remove the pending. Can I deleted all these and re-enter them into todays date?
Also, if the build assemblies are in pending, does it take it our of our inventory or after its complete?
I have steps on how to change the build assemblies date, @annie0424. I'm happy to outline the details steps, so the pending status will remove.
I'd recommend clicking the Remove Pending Status and changing the date afterward. Let me guide you on how:
In addition, you can manually delete the build in the list or Revert it, then save it. After that, re-create it. For more information, see this article: Combine your Inventory Items to Build Finished Goods.
Furthermore, the item can be deducted from the Inventory quantity only after the pending build assembly has been completed or removed. See the sample screenshots below for reference:
Moreover, I've got this helpful material that contains information on handling assembly and quantity on hand:
You're always welcome to post a reply if you have further questions or concerns about assembly items or transactions. Happy to help you again. Keep safe.
Has this ever been resolved? I have a WO today that won't let me remove the pending status because there is a shortage, but my shortage report is empty - it shows absolutely nothing. This is unbelievably horrible!!
Thanks for joining this thread, kate111.
I hate to hear you've run into the same issue with the shortage report in your QuickBooks Desktop account.
I recommend reaching out to a member of the Desktop Support Team to get this resolved as quickly as possible. Agents have the necessary tools to take a closer look to determine what's causing the problem to continue. Here's how to get in touch with the team:
1. With QuickBooks open, press the F1 key on your keyboard.
2. Select Contact Us.
3. Enter Support in the field and click Continue.
4. From here you can begin a live chat session with an agent.
The following link provides these steps if you ever need them again in the future: Contact the QuickBooks Desktop Customer Support Team
Please don't hesitate to reach back out if you have any other questions or concerns. I'm only a comment or post away.
How many people have to contact your Desktop Support Team before there is any attempt made by Intuit to fix this issue? How may years will we need to wait? We too are looking into a replacement accounting software because we've had multiple instances where we've wasted hours and days on an issue, only to have your "support experts" just throw up their hands and give up and tell us there is no fix.
Has this been resolved? I have gone over everything possible, but when creating a build assembly there is a shortage showing due to the system not pulling the on hand items of another assembly. I checked the "automatically build required subassemblies" box and also tried unchecking it. I have 51 on hand yet it tells my I am short. I have verified data, did the rebuild and have been through all of the Q&A's. Literally everything. Please advise.
I appreciate the time and efforts you exerted to fix the issue of the shortage of your build assemblies, @Jstreet31.
Our product engineers are already aware of this issue and currently working on a fix.

Going on three years later, still no fix.
Has this been fixed yet? I have called the help desk and they have no idea how to help me. Looks like people have been having this problem for years. Only one of my assemblies does this, all the rest work.
Thanks for reaching out to us, @Lori1313.
It appears you have expressed a similar concern to which my colleague responded. You can find her suggested resolution at this link: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/reports-and-accounting/re-build-assembly-not-gener....

Have you run the Verify/Rebuild Data utility? Did you encounter any error message?
