Hi there, @colleen35.
Do you need to create sub-accounts? Do you want to assign the accounts to specific items? In QuickBooks Online, you can create subaccounts to break down your expenses, income, and other account types in more detail.
If you need further assistance, feel free to comment down below. Looking forward to your response.
Thank you @LieraMarie_A for your response. My fault, I should have been clearer with my question. I do not want to create sub-accounts. In "Tools" I am using the "Budgeting" feature and for example, under the account, Software Subscriptions, I would like to add a line item for each specific vendor to add in the monthly cost for that vendor and then have those cost add up with the monthly total showing under Software Subscriptions. Thanks!
Hello, colleen35.
Thanks for getting back to us. Allow me to jump in and share information about the Budget feature in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
QBO creates the Budget accounts list directly from your Chart of Accounts (COA). To add a line item when entering a Budget, you'll need to make a new account or sub-account. Currently, the option to add line item without creating a new account is unavailable.
I can see how having this option would be helpful for you and your business. While this isn't available yet, I suggest sending feedback directly to our product developers. They're always looking for ideas to consider on how to improve QBO.
Here's how to submit feedback:

Please post again or leave a comment below if you have additional questions about this or anything else. I'm always here, ready to help. Take care.
Thank you @FritzF ! You have answered my question. Not the answer I was looking for, but the answer so thank you. I will submit my feedback as suggested.
