You can delete payments from invoices if they haven't been deposited yet.
Here's how:
- In your left navigation bar, go to Sales, then Invoices.
- Locate the invoice you're working with and open it.
- Find your PAYMENT STATUS section and click its "1 payment made" option. If more than one payment was made, it may say "2 payments made", for example.
- Hit the payment date to open your payment record.
- Use its More option.
- Select Delete, then Delete.
In the event you encounter a "There was a problem deleting the transaction: This transaction has been deposited. If you want to change or delete it, you must edit the deposit it appears on and remove it first." message when trying to delete a payment, you'll need to edit your deposit the payment's in and remove it to be able to delete it entirely.
If you're curious as to whether you should or shouldn't be deleting a payment, I'd recommend working with an accounting professional. In the event you're in need of one, there's an awesome tool on our website called Find a ProAdvisor. All ProAdvisors listed there are QuickBooks-certified and able to provide helpful insights for driving your business's success.
I've also included a detailed resource about deleting invoice payments which may come in handy moving forward: Delete an invoice payment using the mobile app
I'll be here to help if there's any additional questions. Have a great Tuesday!
