Can i remove a payment on an invoice

Thanks for getting in touch with the Community, clientsupport.

You can delete payments from invoices if they haven't been deposited yet.

Here's how:

  1. In your left navigation bar, go to Sales, then Invoices.
  2. Locate the invoice you're working with and open it.
  3. Find your PAYMENT STATUS section and click its "1 payment made" option. If more than one payment was made, it may say "2 payments made", for example.
  4. Hit the payment date to open your payment record.
  5. Use its More option.
  6. Select Delete, then Delete.

In the event you encounter a "There was a problem deleting the transaction: This transaction has been deposited. If you want to change or delete it, you must edit the deposit it appears on and remove it first." message when trying to delete a payment, you'll need to edit your deposit the payment's in and remove it to be able to delete it entirely.

If you're curious as to whether you should or shouldn't be deleting a payment, I'd recommend working with an accounting professional. In the event you're in need of one, there's an awesome tool on our website called Find a ProAdvisor. All ProAdvisors listed there are QuickBooks-certified and able to provide helpful insights for driving your business's success.

I've also included a detailed resource about deleting invoice payments which may come in handy moving forward: Delete an invoice payment using the mobile app

I'll be here to help if there's any additional questions. Have a great Tuesday!
