Hi WSCAAdmin,
Sales receipts have a unique treatment when using Advanced Search. We're unable to use its reference numbers to find a particular receipt unlike other transactions. I'll guide in finding one in a different way.
The good thing about QuickBooks is we produce a lot of sales reports. You can pull up the Transaction List by Customer report. Then, click the small Gear icon just above the table and place a checkmark in the Ref # checkbox. This will add the REF# column to the report and will show you the reference numbers of all transactions. You can then use the Find (Ctrl + F) feature of your browser to look for receipts using reference number.
You can click on Save Customization to add this to your list of Custom Reports. That way, you won't have to customize again when you need to find sales receipts.
On the other hand, I'm sending feedback about using reference numbers to find sales receipts in the Advanced Search section. In this way,, our engineers can consider adding this option in future updates.
You can go back to this thread if you have challenges in finding entries. I'll be happy to assist you again.
Hello JessT,
Thank you for your reply. The number that is coming up for you there is the SALES RECEIPT NUMBER, not the reference number, which is a separate part of the sales receipt record. When I search using your method for the reference number, I am still not getting any results.
I'm also having this issue. They have still not taken action to fix this error and continue to give a workaround. I just spent several hours talking to QB help only to get "this is a product limitation."
