Can't view expense after confirming transaction

Hi Everyone,

I am new to quickbooks and trying to get my accounts in order but am having some issues.  Currently I am trying to go through and categorize / confirm all of my credit card transactions.  This is my process:

1. Go to the transactions page under bookkeeping

2. Choose by credit card account

3. Pick a transaction

4. Set vendor / category

5. Upload the receipt as an attachment

6. Confirm the transaction

This all works fine, however once I confirm it seems impossible to view the details of the transaction again, especially the attachment.  If I go to the "Confirmed" tab and find the transaction (Which takes forever to load) it only shows the description and the memo.  There is a link to an expense that I can click on, but when I click this half of the time I get a loading wheel that never goes away, and the other half of the time I get a blank expense screen with todays date in it.

I tried going to the account register and choosing "Edit" on the transaction, however I am getting the same blank expense screen that shows up.

Being able to see and edit transactions seems like incredibly basic functionality that should just work.  There also seems to be no way to see the attachment again after the transaction was confirmed.

I have attached an image of the blank expense screen that I am seeing.  Any advice or help would be great as this is very frustrating.

Thanks!

Can't view expense after confirming transaction

Thanks for sharing the details of your concern and adding a screenshot, @SimpleExplorer1.

I can see how frustrating it is to have this functionality not working on your end. That said, let me share some troubleshooting steps that will help address the issue.

Sometimes too much caches stored in a browser can cause unexpected behavior with the product. This might be the reason why it takes time to load the Expense window.

To clear this out, let's access your account in a private window. This is a special mode that can help us isolate the problem and fix it. Simply press the following shortcut keys to open it:

  • Ctrl + Shift + N (Google Chrome).
  • Ctrl + Shift + P (Firefox).
  • Control + Option + P (Safari).

Once done, view the details of the transaction again. If you're able to successfully open it without the loading issues, go back to your regular browser and clear its cache.  If you're still getting the same result, use another supported browser. This could be a temporary issue with QuickBooks and the current browser that you use.

Additionally, you can run several financial reports to track what you've spent in QuickBooks.

Let me know if you need further assistance with this. I'm always around to provide answers and clarifications to your questions, @SimpleExplorer1. Have a great day ahead and take care.
