Class to track the Receive Payments

We appreciate your continued patronage to QuickBooks and your input about having the class function on your receive payment transactions, Lim. Let's submit this request to our engineering team.

Before we proceed, assigning a class is only available to these transactions: Invoice, Sales receipt, Estimate, Sales order, Statement Charges, Refunds and credits, Check, Credit card charges, Bill, Purchase order, and Paycheck.

Since you're looking to track balances separately for your multiple companies, you can create individual bank accounts for each company as a workaround. This approach will allow you to select the appropriate bank account for each payment, simplifying the tracking process on your Balance Sheet.

Please be aware that QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) defaults to the Undeposited Funds (UF) account for receive payment transactions. To select the appropriate bank account, we will need to disable the default setting that uses the UF account. Here's how:

  1. Go to Edit and select Preferences.
  2. Choose Payments and select the Company Preferences tab.
  3. Untick the Use Undeposited Funds as a default deposit to account box.
  4. Click OK.UntickUF.PNG

For further details on managing payments in the Undeposited Funds account and choosing the correct bank account, please refer to this helpful article: Deposit payments into the Undeposited Funds account in QuickBooks Desktop.

You can then refer to this article about sending your feedback to our engineers for them to analyze and consider add this feature to future updates: How do I submit feedback?

Additionally, you can memorize your reports to save your current customizations for future use.

Let us know if you have other concerns with your receive payment transactions or the class tracking functions of QuickBooks Desktop. We're here to help you in any way we can.
