Clearing Overpayments Credits from my A/R Aging Report

Hi,

I am using QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise: 2021

Occasionally, my company receives over payments on invoices by a couple of cents.  These overpayments appear as "Payment" credits on the A/R Aging Detail Report.  I don't want to refund these amounts as they are very small.  How do I clear these from my report?

For such small amounts, I recommend editing the invoice to add on the few cents. It will then show as added income to you. If the invoice is from a closed period, you can create a new invoice for the overpayment.

It's nice to see you here in the Community Space, Harrison6.

Allow me to chime in and help you correct your Accounts Receivable in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

The negative balance is from the overpayments or credits. You'll have to check if these are duplicates or not.

Then, check if there should be an invoice to apply it to. Create one if needed.

Apply the credit to an invoice you already created

  1. Choose + New.
  2. Tap Receive payment or Receive invoice payment.
  3. Hit the customer, then the credit, and the invoice.
  4. Tick Save and New or Save and Close.

Apply the credit to a new invoice

  1. Hit + New.
  2. Click Invoice or Send Invoice.
  3. Create the invoice.
  4. Choose+ New. Then click Receive payment or Receive invoice payment.
  5. Tap the credit and then Save and New or Save and Close.
