Why do the COGS not show on the sales by item report but they do appear in the P&L?

Hi there, chris. 

 

I'll share some information on why Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) doesn't show on the Sales by item report but appears in Profit and Loss. 

 

COGS only shows in the Sales by item report if the sale has been paid. On the other hand, COGS appear in the Profit and Loss report since it's considered a cost of running the business. It is then deducted from the company's revenue to determine the business's gross profits.
