2. Press Ctrl-L to open the associated list, the overall Names list.

3. At the bottom of the list window, pick Resort List from the Name button. Answer Yes.

Congrats to being a part of the Community, @bugconst.

Let’s get this problem handle with the company file being damaged. You can fix your company file in no time and here’s how:

First, you’ll need to Run the Rebuild Data Tool. This tool automatically fixes minor company file data issues.

  1. Choose the File menu. You’ll then hove over Utilities and click Rebuild Data.
  2. On the QuickBooks Information window, select OK. Follow the onscreen steps to save a backup.
  3. Let the tool repair your file.
  4. When the tool finishes, select OK.

If you’re still seeing issues then the next step is to Test for Data Issues.

  1. Go to the File menu. Then hover over Utilities and select Verify Data.
  2. Let the tool check your file for data issues.

Important: If the tool doesn’t find any problems, pick OK, but if the tool does find an issue you’ll see two options: Rebuild Now or View Errors.

Lastly, you’d want to do a Manual Repair in just a few steps:

  1. Open QuickBooks Desktop and your company file.
  2. Press F2 to open the Product Information window.
  3. Select Review Last Verify/Rebuild.
  4. Look for errors on the results list.
  5. Follow the recommended steps to repair each specific error.

That’s all there is to it. You can successfully return to business.

You’re welcome to come back anytime, if you have any other questions or concerns. Happy Wednesday.
