Join nowOur fiscal months do not follow calendar months. Our fiscal year is 1/1 - 12/31, but our months (except for December) end on the final Saturday of the month, which means that this year's month does not line up with last year's corresponding month. It is no issue to pull reports for the current month (example, current month of October - custom date for 9/26/2021 through 10/30/2021), but I cannot get a report to show me the current year October (dates 9/26/2021 through 10/30/2021) compared to the prior year October (dates 9/27/2021 through 10/31/2021) without having to pull both months separately, export to excel, then combine. With our previous software, we could set each fiscal month for the year to custom dates, so there was no issue. Do we have any options within Quickbooks Desktop to set custom month dates? Is there an easier way to compare periods than exporting multiple reports to excel? Will we need to use a third party reporting app? If so, which app should we use?

Hi there, vytronaccounting.
Thank you for visiting the QuickBooks Community. I appreciate you for sharing detailed information about your concern. With this, I'll ensure to provide some details on how reports work in QuickBooks Desktop. Then, route you to the right page to find an alternative way to achieve what you need.
QuickBooks Desktop allows you to customize the Report date range so you can select the dates the report covers and show the specific data. However, getting a report to show the current year with a specific date is currently unavailable. You have to manually set the particular date each time you run the report. This is because the fiscal year can be set by month and not for a definite date in the month.
On the other hand, you have the option to find a third-party reporting app that can help with what you need. However, we're unable to suggest a specific app to use. I encourage you to visit our MarketPlace website. You can scan through the site to get a better comparison of the available apps and see if one meets your needs.
Lastly, I'm adding this article so you can see various details of how QuickBooks Desktop provides several reports that cater to your business needs: Understand reports.
Let me know if you have other banking concerns or inquiries about managing your reports in QBDT. I'm just around to help. Take care always.
