Creating a list off of Chart of Accounts

I have multiple companies on a chart of accounts. For example my Accounts Receivable has account G11000 for one company, A11000 for another, W11000 for the last. I want to be able to do reports and lists for all accounts that start with G or A or W individually. Is there any way to filter and look at every account that begins with a certain letter for all the groups (bank, accounts receivable, fixed asset, etc.)?

Creating a list off of Chart of Accounts

Yes, there is, @apex11.

You can run a Quickreport of your A1 1000 account and customize it to show all accounts that start with G, A, or W. I'll show you how.

  1. Go to the Lists menu in your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).
  2. Select Chart of Accounts.
  3. Right-click on your preferred bank account and select QuickReport (bank name)
  4. Click Customize Report and select the Filters tab.
  5. Select Account from under the FILTER section.
  6. From the drop-down menu, choose Multiple accounts and select the accounts you want to show in the report, and click OK2.PNG
  7. Click OK again to run the report.

You can also see this link for more details about the process: Customize reports in QuickBooks Desktop

It's also a great practice to save the current settings of your report. This way, you won't have to go through the customization process again.

If there's anything else you need assistance with managing your reports and chart of accounts, you can always add them in your reply. I'll be more than happy to help you in every way. Keep safe and have a great week ahead!

Thank you, that did help with using it for reports. Would there be a way to use this filter for the chart of accounts? Say for example if I just wanted the A accounts to appear?

Thank you! That did help with running reports. Is there a way to use this filter for the chart of accounts it self? Say for example that I wanted only the "A accounts" to appear?
