Custom Form Styles

I would like to create two separate custom form styles (invoice and sales receipt) that relate to two separate parts of our business. I would like to use a different company name and email on the custom forms but I can't seem to make a change in these two fields on one form without it changing on the other custom form. Is there a way to do this? Thanks!

Custom Form Styles

Hello, Chris.

I'll share some details about the header content on your templates. I'll also throw in a workaround to help you differentiate the business name and email address for invoices and sales receipts.

The templates will always share the header content. They actually depend on what was entered from the Account and settings page (Company information section).

One workaround is to create your own template and import it to QuickBooks Online. You'll want to set the Business name and the email address as a fixed field instead of a merged field. Make sure to turn on the Import Styles feature before doing this:

  1. Click the Gear icon, then select QuickBooks labs.
  2. Toggle the Import Style slider to On.
  3. Click Done

This article can guide you through the process: Import custom form styles for invoices or estimates.

Since the import styles feature is only for invoices or estimates, you can use the regular forms for your sales receipts.

After creating the template, simply go to the Custom form styles page, click the New style button, then choose Import style

Though, it would be a good addition to have an option to let the templates become independent from each other. This might be added in our future updates, so stay tuned for the news in our QuickBooks Blog page.

Need help setting up your company according to your preferences? Or do you need help on other areas in QuickBooks? Our articles can guide you with the processes. Check them out from the articles list page.

I'm still with you if you have more questions about your invoices or sales receipts. You can also add any other concerns for QuickBooks Online. Always here to listen and help.
