Let's make sure tips are added to your payment forms in QuickBooks Online (QBO), so your customers can add one when they pay through the online portal.
Based on your description, you may haven't turn on tips for all your sales forms in QBO. That's why there's no tip carried over from QuickBooks Payments to the QBO platform as any form of payment. With this, let's go to the Accounts and Settings page to turn on tips. Here's how:
Once you're done, there'll be a Tips field added to your invoice and sales receipts forms. Then, when an invoice payment with a tip is received, the amount updates with the Tip box below the Total. Payments will be in the full amount of the invoice plus tip.
You can read this article for the complete guide to adding tips to your payment forms in QBO: Turn tips on or off for sales forms in QuickBooks Online.
Also, you may want to check out this article as your reference to know more about when QuickBooks deposits customer payments into your bank account: Find out when QuickBooks Payments deposits customer payments.
Let me know if you have other concerns about managing sales and payment transactions in QBO. I'm always here to help. Take care, and I wish you continued success, @imhere2day.
This is incorrect. If that field were off, a customer would NOT be able to leave a tip. This is not the issue we are having. Any other advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!
It appears yet another bug of QBO recording, an issue I have pointed out numerous times over the course of almost 1year to the customer service dept. It is always associated with someone who leaves a tip. It leaves the invoice open as if it were unpaid and sends us NO notice of the payment. The only way we ever find them is when a customer complains of having paid, asking why we are still sending requests for payment. We go back through all the transactions of payments received in the transaction portal, and find it - always associated with an amount higher than the invoice, thus those that left a tip.
For once QBO team, it would be. nice if the actual problem was read rather than jumping to conclusions that have nothing to do with a stated problem. ie in this case, if the problem was read, it is very apparent is is not isolated to the tip field not being on as that would mean a customer could not leave a tip.
Hi imhere2day,
Thank you for your feedback on how we initially addressed your concern in this thread. We will share this with everyone to improve our service to our clients.
As for invoice payments with tips not reflected in QBO, this is a known issue and is being resolved by our engineers. I know you've been working with our QBO Support. However, I'm gonna have to let you contact them again so your account will be linked to the open ticket (INV-75602). This way, you will get updates straight from our engineering team.
You can always go back to this thread if you have any other questions in mind.
To also bring to concern, it is leaving the invoice fully unpaid, as if the customer never paid - this seems to be isolated to any time someone has left a tip making the amount paid greater than invoice total. No record of any amount $$ being applied to the customer's invoice. This is frustrating! It's been almost a year.
Hello there, @imhere2day.
I understand the urgency of this matter. Please know that this isn't the kind of experience that we want you to have in QuickBooks. Hence, I'd like to inform you that we've received reports that e-invoice payments with tips aren't being reflected to their invoices in QBO, and our engineers are working on a fix.
I recommend contacting QuickBooks Online Support to be added to the list of affected users. Here's how:
You can contact us from Mondays to Fridays, 6 AM to 6 PM PT and Saturday 6 AM to 3 PM PT.
If you want to view the status of your invoices, you can check this article: Track the status of invoices in the QuickBooks Online mobile app.
Visit us again if you need further assistance with your invoices. We're available 24/7.
I have already spoken to QBO many times as I mentioned in the initial. I do not understand why QBO always says an "our engineers are working on it." These are integral moving parts and PROBLEMS to the system. If someone was truly working on these problems, they would not take a year. If someone was truly working on it, there would be deadlines in place, deadlines that could be given to customers for awareness of attention to detail. Do better QBO. We pay a very large premium for this inoperable system.
