I'm using Quickbooks Desktop. It seems like there should be a simple way to run a report of all customers that owe money. In "Snapshots," there is a screen labeled "Customers Who Owe Money;" this is exactly what I am looking for except that I need it to include the job name. As a rental property business, we have the property as a Customer and the tenant as a Job. So, the "Customers Who Owe Money" screen does not show the tenants name. If I run a Customer Balance Summary or A/R report, it always includes customers/jobs that have paid ahead; I only want a list of Jobs/Customers that owe money for collections purposes.
Thank you for your help.
Hi there, rwyeth.
At the moment, the Company Snapshot report only shows amounts on a summary level. This is the reason why we're unable to add or drill down the data per job. Although, you can double-click on the customer name to get the amounts per tenant.
More details about customizing or running the Company Snapshot are discussed here: Customize a Snapshot tab.
For now, you can run the Open Invoices report. This will let you see the current balance for open invoices per job. Here's how:

Pull up your Customer Balance Summary report and Customize
Filter for amount =>0
Filter for Paid status = open
That's all fine and good. But, I really just want something as simple as the current balance for each customer/job, excluding negative balances, to send to our property manager. I'd never have thought that achieving that would be such a struggle.
Thank you. But, it then shows balances based on the open invoice. That doesn't account for the fact that the invoice may be partially paid. So, it doesn't give an accurate number of the current balance.
I've got you covered today, rwyeth
There is a Quick Report in QuickBooks Desktop where it lists all transactions related to a particular name or payee. You can run this report to one of your customers and filter the information to remove other columns except for the Opening Balance.
I'll show you how below:
Below is another screenshot that will show how the report would look like after removing other columns except for the opening balance.
