Keep in mind, your vendor may need 5 business days or more to accept your ACH payment. If you need to pay a quick payment, you should signup for a free Melio account as the backup. You can use the Fast ACH payment.

To get started, let's check if you have subscribed to bill pay. That way, we can ensure that you have all the necessary tools to manage your bills efficiently.

 

Here's how:

 

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online account.
  2. Go to Get paid & pay, then Bills.
  3. Select the Unpaid tab.
  4. Create a new bill, then select Schedule payment. Don't worry; you don't need to schedule any payments for the next steps.
  5. Take note of what you see in the footer of the Schedule payment screen. If you see Bill Pay powered by Bill.com, then you have Bill Pay powered by Bill.com.

 

If you have already subscribed, you can simply submit your scheduled payments in QuickBooks Online (QBO). Check out the following instructions below to get this done:

 

  1. Log in to your QBO account.
  2. Click Get paid & pay, then choose Bills.
  3. Create a new bill or select an existing unpaid one. Select Schedule Payment or Save and Schedule Payment.If you make a new bill, you'll have the option to schedule the bill right away by clicking Save and Schedule Payment and For unpaid bills, schedule directly from ExpensesVendors, or Bills.     
  4. Choose which bank account you want to use as your funding source and withdraw funds from. Banks you've already connected to your account will appear as options, but you can also choose Add a bank account. The total amount of the bill is displayed by default. You can select Edit if you want to schedule a partial payment.
  5. In the Payment account dropdown, select the corresponding account or pick + Add new to create a new account to track your bill payment information.
  6. Choose which payment method your payee prefers and complete the required fields.
  7. Select the date when you want the funds to be withdrawn from your bank account up to 90 days in advance.
  8. Review the payment instructions, then select Schedule payment if everything looks correct.

I created and funded a Quickbooks Checking Account to pay bills. When I select "Schedule a Payment" on an unpaid bill, I get a new screen that says:

 

"A new approach to pay bills is coming soon.
Introducing QuickBooks Bill Pay, our all-in-one solution that will enable you to easily pay your vendors, suppliers, contractors, or subcontractors, right in QuickBooks to free up more of your time."

Thank you, MorganB. Unfortunately, it still doesn't work. I've attached a screenshot which leads me to Schedule a Payment which leads to the message "A new approach to pay bills is coming soon". You'll notice at the bottom of the screenshot it says "Bill Pay services powered by Melio". I tried Melio last year but abandoned it and closed my account.

Let me elaborate on some details on how QuickBooks Checking works when paying bills, Alpha. 

 

Based on the screenshot you've provided, it seems that you're still on Bill Pay powered by Melio. The option to pay your bills using your QB Checking account is only available in QuickBooks Bill Pay. In the normal process, if you have already the QuickBooks Bill pay, and once you follow the prompts by clicking the Next button you'll have the option to set up QuickBooks Checking to pay bills. 

 

Please know that we're still rolling out this service. Furthermore, the QuickBooks Bill Pay account is subject to eligibility criteria, credit, and application approval. You can reach out to our support team to verify if you can enroll for QuickBooks Bill Pay. They have the tools to pull up your account in a secure way and be able to know if you're eligible. 

 

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online company.
  2. Select Help (?).
  3. Select either tab to get started:
    • Assistant: Get quick, personalized answers. Select a suggested option, or type a question or topic you need help with. If you decide you need further help, you can still Talk to a human.
    • Search: Search the QuickBooks Online knowledge base directly, or select Contact Us and choose a way to connect with us:
      • Start a chat with a support expert.
      • Get a callback from the next available expert.

It appears your QBO account is one of those affected. Your old Billpay feature powered by Melio is disabled but the new QB Billpay cannot replace it. You should signup for a free Melio account as a workaround.

I continue to have this same issue. When I contacted support they said they were not able to help me with this problem and I should contact melio payment department. It's not Melio, it's QBO and they don't seem to even have a desire to fix it.

I use Melio, however I pay over $600 to Intuit for all my companies so I'd like it to work properly. Adequate support would be ideal.

QuickBooks Online's recent updates just discontinued the integration between QBO and Melio. Intuit has developed an impressive solution for all Melio users out there. With the QuickBooks Bill Pay, you can easily migrate all your data and enjoy a seamless experience.

 

Furthermore, here's how to contact QBO support:

 

  1. Head to this link: Contact Us.
  2. Select QuickBooks Online product and click Continue.
  3. Select Contact Us and choose a way to connect with us:
  • Start a chat with a support expert.
  • Get a callback from the next available expert.

 

If necessary, please contact Melio support for assistance.

I understand that. It will not let me (and others apparently) sign up for QB Billpay. It keeps saying "A new approach to paying bills is coming soon," and it does not give me the option to sign up for anything. 

I contacted your customer support. She said She could not help me as it was a billing issue. Which clearly it is not. I'm going in circles with Intuit and it's beyond frustrating. Clearly I am not the only one having this issue.

To verify my understanding, are you using a Accountant/Wholesale client account? If so, the BillPay flow in QuickBooks is currently unavailable to Accountant and Wholesale client accounts. That's why the message is displayed. Intuit's Product Investigations team confirmed this in their research for our investigation (INV-93141) about the "A new approach to pay bills is coming soon." message.

 

I can certainly understand how an ability to access a BillPay flow with Wholesale/Accountant accounts could be useful and have submitted a suggestion about it as of today.

 

You can also submit your own feedback while signed in.

 

Here's how:

 

  1. Use the Gear icon, then go to Feedback.
  2. Enter your suggestion(s) in the Have feedback? window.
  3. If necessary, attach a file with your Camera icon.
  4. Select Next.

Upon contact Support, I was told that engineering is aware of this issue and is working to resolve it. No time frame given. In the meantime, user such as myself are left without a solution to using Bill Pay. Please, please, please let "engineering" know that this problem has persisted for months and many users are just fed up with Intuit. We love the product but really cannot work with the lack of response to real issues such as this. Thank you.

To further investigate the error you've encountered, I recommend contacting our customer care support. They have specialized tools to ensure that your concerns are addressed thoroughly. Additionally, they can refer this to our engineering department if necessary for a more in-depth resolution. 

 

To reach our support team:

 

  1. In your QuickBooks Online account, go to the Help menu.
  2. Hover to the Search tab, then click Contact Us.
  3. Type in a short description of your issue and concern in the box provided.
  4. Click Continue.
  5. Select the Chat or Callback option.

 

You can contact us from Mondays to Fridays, 6 AM to 6 PM PT. 

 

On the other hand, you can log in to Melio directly outside QuickBooks using the Intuit login option as a workaround.
