For some reason, QB Desktop 2021 does not open the memorized reports from earlier versions of QB. When you generate the report, nothing happens.
QB recommends rebuilding data and verifying the file, but neither of those work. QB says you have to DELETE AND RECREATE YOUR MEMORIZED REPORTS! If you are an accountant like me, that could mean hundreds of reports. I don't know about you, but I do not have that kind of time.
This is not the service we want you to experienced, @Victoria19.
It's possible that the memorized report or the memorized report list is damaged. Let me guide you in re-sorting your memorized reports list to isolate this unexpected behavior.
Once completed, make sure to restart QuickBooks to ensure that all components are updated. Now, you can try accessing your memorized report.
If the issue persists, you can try running the Verify and Rebuild tool again. This is a built-in tool that auto-detects and auto-fix data damage issues within QuickBooks.
Once the Verify finds an issue with your QuickBooks data, you will be prompted to Rebuild Now or View Errors. Also, you'd want to use the QBWin.log to find and resolve data damage. You can refer to this article for more detailed steps: A memorized report does not open or opens a different report.
Lastly, you'd want to contact our Technical Support again. This way, you can request to be added to the on-going investigation about the issue with generating and accessing memorized reports. Just provide your full name, updated email address, and this investigation number: INV-12177.

I appreciate your response. I did everything you stated plus restarted my computer and no luck. This is not just one file - it's happening in all of my QB files that I upgraded to the 2021 version. Obviously I cannot continue to take the time to upgrade the rest of my client files to 2021 just to have to take the time to delete and recreate 10-15 memorized reports per client file. I am already losing time on the files I upgraded to 2021 before I realized this was a major bug within the new version.
I have seen other posts on this forum of others having the same problem and the recommendations are the same as yours.
I called tech support and was told the only solutions are to either delete and recreate the reports or not to upgrade to the 2021 version. I do not believe calling them back will resolve anything as I was already told there is nothing they can do.
I will not be upgrading the rest of my files to 2021 until this issue is resolved.
Given the importance of reporting in the accounting industry, I am surprised that this is even an issue let alone not given top priority.
What is going on with this? I also lost most of my memorized reports. This should be an update by QuickBooks and get it fixed fast! Bad customer service to put the work back on the QuickBooks user when this is an obvious bug on QuickBooks 2021 version.
Yes, I agree, lost memorized reports (Took Some time to create again- Hard way) after upgrading to QB Desktop 2021.
I tried all, nothing can bring those report back. I also sent the feedback at support. Regarding the Resort list, it just sorts the list and that feature does not bring back, what is lost. The Resort should be set to automatic. Why because, Here are the three Steps to lookup Memorized report
1. Reports – Memorized Reports –the list of my Own created reports are NOT in alpha/numeric Sort
2. Reports – report Center- Memorized - the list of my Own created reports are NOT in alpha/numeric Sort
3. Reports – Memorized Reports - Memorized report List -This list is PERFECT in ALPHA/Numeric Order.
Auto Sort on all three places would be Ideal
Its too bad, that you were told "Nothing They Can do".... That reply to you is not fair?
Someone need to understand that QB is where the data are entered. What's left after is reporting , isn't that !
this is absolutely crap and VERY TYPICAL OF Intuit. I Had to upgrade because you would not support my Payroll program, and now that I have I get to Rebuild all of my Memorized Reports - I have 100's of these reports for several different clients. WTH - honest to god I wish there was another program for accounting, I'd drop Quickbooks in a hot minute. Intuit has just GOTTEN TO BIG to give a crap about the end user. I don't have time to sit on the phone with some idiot reading off a green screen in a 3rd world county. I paid over $400 because Intuit now wants to charge an annual fee of $299.99 per year, if you don't buy the program outright. And now you just make more work for those of us who use this program. CRAPPY CRAPPY Customer Service - CRAPPY CRAPPY Online Service - So who do I sent my bill to to re-create the 100's of memorized reports - I can't charge my customer for your Freaking Screw Up
FYI, the only reports that are not working for the files that I have transitioned from 2018 to 2021 are the memorized reports that I have used just recently. Reports that I created last year or before are available.
Perhaps this will help narrow down the problem for QB Tech Supt.
This is a real problem for my clients as we do job costing and work from memorized reports for our projects.
And for all my clients we are converting from 2018 because our payroll subscriptions will not work without the updated software.
RRRRRRR!
seems to still be happening
has tech support figured it out yet?
Thanks for joining this post, LEAS_SM.
I understand how important the memorized reports are. I'm here to help you.
You may experience this error if the memorized report list is damaged. You'll want to perform the steps stated in this article to fix it: A memorized report does not open or opens a different report.
In addition, as per checking, this issue has reported already and currently being fixed. If you haven't yet, I suggest reaching out to our Support Team. Once you are included on the affected users, you'll receive updates about the investigation.
If you'll want to recreate them, I've added this link for the detailed steps: Create, access and modify memorized reports.
Keep on posting here if you have additional concerns. We'll respond as soon as we can.
I received a file back from Intuit that is supposedly fixed, but I have not verified that yet.
Of course, even if they did fix it, they would have to do this for all of my client files and I do not think I want to send all of my files out to Intuit.
I love how QB employees keep replying to this post with the same solutions that do not actually work. If one of you could actually solve this problem, that would be great!
Victoria
Completely agree - I only upgraded because payroll is not supported in the 2018 version but now I'm stuck recreating all my memorized reports. Really makes no sense.
I just opened the file that Intuit says is fixed but lo and behold I still cannot open my memorized reports.
I cannot believe Intuit does not see how major this problem is.

Are you having issues with random lockups and shutdowns too? I'm having this issue outside of reports in version 2021 too.
My IT person was on the phone with them yesterday and they said it was fixed too. No! Not fixed!
I was with 2021 when I first installed it. I restarted my computer and it was fine.
It only happened on my laptop when I installed 2021 but not when I installed 2021 on my desktop.
Victoria
Having the same issue and no success trying the recommended steps as everybody else. 30 plus accounts each with 10-15 memorized reports. Hopefully, the QBs engineers who are diligently working on this issue are not the same ones trying t fix the Summarize Payroll Data in Excel report that they have "fixing" since November 2018 or it will most likely never get fixed either.
That piece of INV- does not work. If team created or found solution good for them. I do not see on myside, as it supposed to Work.
Hello, @jitu1049.
An investigation is done by our Product Engineers when there are many users affected by a program or data issue that is not resolved using the available troubleshooting method.
Any updates will be posted in our special tool which you can get its progress when you contact our support team. If you've already spoken to one of the support agents and have your name listed to the affected users, you will get an email once the fix was made. If you haven't contacted one, I'd recommend doing it so that you'll get included in the list of the affected users.
Here's a link to contact support outside the program: Contact QuickBooks Desktop support.
For now, you can manually create the report. I've added an article for your reference about the process: Create reports in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.
The Community has your back if you have other QuickBooks concerns. Feel free to comment below and we will get back to you right away. Take care.
Re: INV-57008 Enterprise Desktop 2018 to 2021 migration.
Unfortunately, I too, have experienced the non-functional Memorized Report problem, discussed in this thread. I have followed the recommended corrections, as narrated from a variety of posts on this matter. I have also contacted and consulted with customer support. The support rep was diligent and thorough in his pursuit of a solution and I appreciate his effort.
The problem remains.

QB response above is total BS. They know it's an issue. I just upgraded BEFORE i saw this post and now ALL OF MY REPORTS ARE GONE. They are aware and yet they continue to sell this garbage without letting anyone know. So frustrating. We have over 100 reports that are needed daily. Now we have NOTHING.
This is what I got from them (in all caps). WE ARE COMPLETELY AWARE ABOUT THIS ISSUE. IN FACT WE ARE TAGGING THIS UNDER INVESTIGATION.
I just got off of an online chat with them and after one hour, they finally acknowledged that this is a known issue. Big deal. They knew this over a month ago. It's unethical for them to continue to sell this version until it's fixed.
We are having this problem too. I'm commenting so I'll get notification upon updates. I sure hope they figure this out quickly.
Bridget
I also sat on chat for quite some time today. I was told the engineers are working on it with an ETA of 3-5 days. I'll believe it when I see it.
I had the same problem upgrading from 2018 to 2021. Tried all of the suggestions, nothing worked. Support told me I needed to go from 2018 to 2019 and then 2019 to 2020 and then 2020 to 2021. I spent hours going through that process & the reports didn't work in 2019 either. It may be a 2018 issue. I am going to try to resort list, verify & rebuild in 2018 version & try again. Fortunately I found out quickly before I had the chance to go back to 2018. Many many hours wasted!!! Very frustrating!
