@JLQPCGG yes, their honest answer would be "We here at Intuit hear your complaints, but we want to force this software change that we spent millions on anyway because admitting that it breaks our product would hurt our egos. So, you can either pay our premium process for a product that no longer works for your needs, or you can cancel Quickbooks altogether and switch to cheaper software that actually works."
And that is why we are switching.
I wish an asteroid would hit the Intuit office: I am not an accountant, or book keeper or any such thing... just a consultant TRYING to use this wretched and slippery software for 15 years at the behest of my CPA. For me, the program is just a tool that I am forced to use as I try to make money doing something unrelated. And, when I reach for this tool, I find it has changed, or moved, or has a new quirk or been otherwise "improved" by a crew of morons or sadists with unresolved enmity for their employer and their employer's suckers. I do not want to, nor do I get paid to, mess around with accounting software. I need the damned tool to stay the way I left it, where I left it, and behave the damned way I left it. So tired of these balloon-headed software sadists moving my cheese. I am migrating to something simpler like FreshBooks, or Excel, or a shoe-box with green paper in it. Exhausted and done. Will never buy another Intuit product.
No, you don't understand how inconvenient this is. Stop regurgitating copy and paste responses to your customer's genuine frustration. Read the last 6 pages of complaints on this single thread and start acting on it.
Stop lying to people and saying that the features are retained in the Advanced account. They aren't and YOU KNOW IT! We paid for the upgraded version to avoid the BS template layout, only to receive the message that you will discontinue the Old Layout and force us into the same boat we were in 3 months ago.
Bait and switch, your company is pathetic and dishonest.
With all the complaints. They just don't care!! I'm open to suggestions on moving, any feed back would be helpful!
@lorrib825 Freshbooks, Xero, Taxdome, Wave, and Zoho were some of the cheaper options that our business discovered during our search.
Please share what options you've found and what you like about them!
The new layout hasn’t caused us any “confusion,” it has made our business run inefficiently. Didn’t you say the new the layout was created to improve your customers’ experience?! I can tell you that with all of the negative feedback you’ve received in response to the new layout, your customers didn’t ask for the change, and they don’t want this change!
Since it’s clear nobody at QuickBooks cares about our feedback, maybe we can create a hashtag for to bring attention to this company’s lack of customer service. Maybe our complaints will go viral, bringing attention the greed and lack of customer service at QuickBooks. I’m sure they don’t want that kind of publicity affecting their bottom line. Does anyone have any suggestions for a catchy hashtag to start posting our grievances on social media?
You were so right. So here we are May 10, 2024 FORCED into the new layout. We have to edit all the templates we use because this changed. It looks terrible and confusing to our customers.
This is a hideous joke. Thanks so much QBO - your new invoices are unusable and we are currently unable to bill clients until you sort out your ill-advised "upgrade". Disconnecting apps that worked in conjunction with QBO and forcing your own process onto it without a way to turn it off or prioritize what we are paying for is a bush-league move. Changing the download screen is annoying. Adding windows that fly in randomly and block the screen is just stupid. Oh, and what's the idiocy with resetting the screen to the very top of the invoice EVERY SINGLE TIME you make an entry in the body?
Fix this - maybe introduce your development team to actual humans who use the system every day.
Absolutely hate it. And I'm getting my customers mad. To save the invoice you have to click email. Really? Flat rate We do not do flat rate. Totally unnecessary
I think most of us hate the new invoices. However, I am sure a lot of you, like me, are busy running a business and don't have time to change all your books right now, so since Quickbooks Help robots or whatever they are are so useless, I will share what I have learned.
First, you CAN use your old templates. I was having trouble with "T"s showing up on every line though, like everything was taxable. Lines where I had just typed descriptions of work performed and things like that, nontaxable labor and everything else. I figured out by accident and then a little deduction how to fix that. I hadn't updated my sales tax center to the new one. Because the automatic sales tax calculation was another bad rollout years ago, I stayed with the old one because the way the new one calculated it was useless for me. However, now you can create custom rates and it works pretty much like the old system. So if you are having that problem, just update your sales tax center and it should fix that problem. That solved a huge headache for me, so I wanted to share it in case it helped someone else.
Also, I figured out a way to make spaces since it no longer allows you to make blank lines and runs everything together. Sometimes I want a space to separate days of work or give a description or something like that. Just type a few dashes on the line and then it reads it as a line so you will have a space. It's really ridiculous that we have to do this, but it does make my invoices look better.
As for the new interface and all the problems with that...I guess we are stuck with that. However, these other two things were huge problems for me so I assume they are for others too and if this helps someone else, it was worth the time it took to type it.
Good luck to everyone with all the other problems Quickbooks has foisted upon us with their "improved" invoices!
It doesn't even have an old layout option anymore! This is ridiculous! I will be finding a new bookkeeping system!

Yeah, they did away with that back in May. We're all stuck with this bs. (The owners/ manager here don't use it, so they have NO clue what the issues are, no matter how much I try to explain, Otherwise, I wouldn't be using QB).
The option to go back to the old layout is not there
Yes, because the new invoices are such a resounding success (everyone loves them) (people are saying) that Intuit took away the old invoices, which everyone hated.
I DO NOT have the option to revert to the OLD LAYOUT. How do I get to it other than the referenced above?
I understand that you're looking to switch back to the old layout of the invoice using QuickBooks Online (QBO), Firustrated. I want you to know that our product engineers are listening to your feedback and may consider your input for future product enhancements.
At the moment, there isn't a way to revert to the old layout of the invoice. However, our QuickBooks product engineers are still enhancing the product to provide the best service to our customers. The recent update also introduced upgraded features that can greatly benefit your business. I encourage you to take a look at the attached article to find out more about the improvements and enhancements: See what’s new with estimates and invoices in QuickBooks Online.
In addition, you may need to customize your sales forms to better suit your type of business. For guidance on how to do this, please refer to this resource: Customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online.
After that, if you still have more queries about managing invoices or any sales forms inside QBO, let us know. We will revisit this to address your needs and goals in the future. Keep safe.
" QuickBooks product engineers are processing in enhancing the product itself to give the best service to its customers."
They are failing miserably. The fact that NO ONE is listening to us all is utterly ridiculous. Then you add that we are all told to leave feedback that is ignored, adds insult to injury.
Hello.
Our company has been subscribed to QBO for over 3 years and my user/account has been active for the past 1 1/2 years, but I do not have to option to switch to the old layout. I have tried running QBO in a private browser as well, and the option still isn't available for me.
All employees at our company that have access to QBO have expressed extreme frustration with this new layout and that the older layout for the estimates and invoice forms was superior compared to the updated ones.
Is there any way the product engineers can at least give us the option to switch back? Especially since it seems that most users are frustrated and dislike the update?
Adjusting to the changes in the estimate and invoice layout may take some time, lexib1. I’ll help you submit your feedback to our product developers in QuickBooks Online to ensure your voice is heard.
Follow these steps below:
Additionally, I've got these articles to help you review the recorded sales transactions and how to personalize your sales forms inside the program:
If you have further questions or require assistance with any aspect of your sales forms in QuickBooks Online, don’t hesitate to write down your comment. We'll do our best to help you every step of the way. Keep safe.
Oh please go f*ck yourself and the assh*le who canned this useless reply up for you.
We were given no f*cking choice. We all f*cking raged at your developers and customer service. We begged, pleaded, and demanded you leave the sh*t alone and not make these useless unhelpful hindering changes. YOU COMPLETELY F*CKING IGNORED EVERYONE AND MADE CHANGES THAT HAVE NO VIABLE HELPFUL BENEFIT AT ALL ANYWAY.
This bullsh*t reply is just insult to f*cking injury. You suck, your team sucks, your company sucks, and most of us have either switched or are looking for the alternative to your corporate shill bullsh*t tactics and abusive manner of service.
Yes, I've used that avenue to send back feedback to the product developers multiple times expressing the same concerns and asking the same questions, as well as talk to a representative, since the new layout was enforced for all users of QBO.
I've looked in the settings to personalize the sales forms as well, but the options given that we can change will not benefit me or other users with this problem.
In conclusion, your statement, "your satisfaction is essential as we navigate these changes together", seems very disingenuous considering all of the negative feedback that has been given by the distinctly large number of users-- with zero efforts on QB's end to remedy the problem. It's incredibly frustrating to look at these numerous posts stating the same thing: "Please give us the option to switch to the old layout/format for estimates & invoices because of reasons A,B,C, etc." To see every response from QB: "Please submit your feedback directly to the product engineers and they MAY consider your feedback."
The point of product engineers to better a product that makes the customer happier with said product. Considering the large number of users that have replied on this thread stating they're going to switch to another bookkeeping/accounting software due to this update, I'd say the product engineers missed the mark by a mile.
