Double invoice numbers?

Hello there, Clhines84. Let me help you on how to correct the invoice numbering issue in your QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE).

Please note that the invoices in QuickBooks Self-Employed are exclusively for tracking purposes and have no impact on your business or tax reports. The software automatically generates a transaction number when you create an invoice, but you can manually edit it if needed.

Here's how to track and edit the invoice number:

  1. Go to the Invoices menu.
  2. Find the invoice you need to edit and select Edit Invoice.
  3. In the Invoice no. box, enter the correct invoice number.
  4. Click Subscribe to send or Save.

Additionally, you can check this article when you receive invoice payments to ensure you track them on the Transaction page: Manually add transactions in QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Furthermore, you can also visit this article to set your numbering preference: Add custom transaction numbers to sales forms in QuickBooks Online.

Let me know if you have further questions about invoices in QBSE. I'm always here to help. Stay safe.

Double invoice numbers?

My problem is I do not understand why the system is recreating the same invoice numbers.

I generally use my phone to do my invoices. There’s no way to edit on my phone using the QuickBooks app.

is there a way to get the system to just keep creating new invoice numbers?

or after invoice #499 do I have to now manually add each invoice number??

Does not make sense for me to create Manual invoice numbers??!!!

NOT Happy at all!!

Double invoice numbers?

Hello there, Clhines84.

I understand the importance of resolving the recurring issue of the system generating the same invoice number in QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE).

To address this issue, let's start by refreshing the app to fix some data problems. You can follow the steps below depending on your phone's operating system.

For the IOS version:

  1. Go to the Menu icon and tap Help & Feedback.
  2. Select Refresh Data.
  3. If you get a prompt message, "Caution. If there was a problem getting your latest QuickBooks Online data, you can refresh it now. It may take a few minutes."
  4. Tap Refresh to confirm.

For Android:

  1. Go to the Menu icon, then tap More Options ⋮.
  2. Click Settings, then Refresh Data.
  3. Select YES to confirm.

If you get the same result, I suggest uninstalling and reinstalling the app.

If the same thing happens, I suggest contacting our Customer Support Team. This way, they can pull up your account securely and check the cause of the problem.

In the meantime, you may want to open your account on a web browser to update the duplicate invoice number and create new invoices with unique numbers.

Let me know if you need further guidance managing invoices in QuickBooks. I'm always here to help. Take care.
