Dynamic message on recurring invoices

Is there a way to setup dynamic messages in the message body of a recurring invoice?
I want a recurring invoice going every month to my clients saying:
"Invoice for the month: <previous month>", so that every time the invoice is sent the message body is updated as per whatever the previous month was.
How do I set this up?

I know a way where you can find one, @accounting_guy.

QuickBooks offers several third-party applications, which can be found in our Apps Center and your Apps menu. From there, you can choose the best automated custom messages tool for your recipients.

Here’s how:

  1. Open your QuickBooks account.
  2. Go to your Apps menu.
  3. Enter a keyword on the Search field, then select the app.
  4. You can click the Overview, Pricing, Reviews, and FAQs to view the information.

The feature is not yet available on QB. Consider having an additional app to do so.

How can this be labeled "solved" when the answer from QB is that this isn't an available feature?  That isn't a solution.

@saasexec

The solution is using a 3rd party app for the time being.

Is this still not an option in native QBO? I'm coming over from FreshBooks and am trying to get my monthly recurring invoices to update the description field as each invoice is sent out (specifically the month for services rendered). On FreshBooks, I simply type ::month:: into the description field and it dynamically fills in the current month on the invoice.

Thanks

You can use FB to send invoices and accept payments, then mirror the data to QBO.

So pay for FB since it does what I need it to do in this case and also pay for QB so I can mirror another program's data to it?

Thanks Ethel,

I'm a little surprised that this very simple feature hasn't been incorporated into QBO; people have been asking about it here for 2 years now. I'll fill out the form, as I'm sure others have done, but this would take one of your programmers about an hour to incorporate into the web-based world that is QBO.

You can explore this connector to mirror data automatically. Utilize the starter plan for free if it is enough for your needs.

if you are running a B2B company, open a Melio account for free to integrate with your FB and accept payments by ACH for free.

Hey there, @cpaddock8513.

We recognize the importance of adding dynamic messages in recurring invoices. However, as of now, this feature isn't available in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

As a workaround, you can select the most suitable automated messaging third-party app for your recipients from our Apps Center and Apps menu. Let me guide you how.

  1. Go to the Apps menu.
  2. Select the Find apps tab.
  3. Enter a keyword in the search bar or click the Browse category dropdown menu to explore different apps.

To improve your experience with QBO, we will share your feedback with our product development team.

Here's how to send one:

  1. Go to the Gear icon, then select Feedback.
  2. Type in your comments or product suggestions.
  3. Click Next to submit.

@CH360

You should consider having a billing subscription app to integrate with QBO.

Intuit should consider bringing this super-simple feature to their current offering - without having to pay another company to do said super-simple feature; that is just super-silly.

Shame on Intuit for not making this change years ago.

Dynamic message on recurring invoices

Hello, CH360.

Yes, unfortunately, the feature for a dynamic message on recurring invoices is currently unavailable in QuickBooks Online. Our team understands the importance of this feature for businesses and is actively working on incorporating it into the platform. We do not have a specific timeline for when this feature will be released, but rest assured that we are doing our best to provide an optimal user experience.

In the meantime, If you want to add dynamic messages to your recurring invoices in QuickBooks Online, one way to do it is by using a third-party app that integrates with the software. These apps can be found in the QuickBooks App Store, which is an online marketplace that offers various apps designed to work with QuickBooks Online.

  1. Go to the Apps menu.
  2. Select the Find Apps tab.
  3. Enter a keyword in the search bar or click the Browse category dropdown menu to explore different apps.

Once you have selected an app that meets your needs and installed it, you will be able to integrate it with your QuickBooks Online account. This will enable the app to access the necessary data and allow you to create and send invoices with additional messages. It's important to note that we need to ensure the app you choose is compatible with your QuickBooks Online version and meets your specific needs.

Furthermore, to optimize your experience with QBO, I recommend you take the time to provide detailed feedback to our product development team. Sharing your thoughts, concerns, and suggestions will help us better understand your needs and requirements and enable us to improve our platform to meet your expectations continuously. Whether it's a feature request, a bug report, or a general comment, your feedback is valuable to us and will help us shape the future of QBO. So please let us know what you think - we're always eager to hear from our users.

Here's how to send one:

  1. Go to the Gear icon, then select Feedback.
  2. Type in your comments or product suggestions.
  3. Click Next to submit.

@cts79

If the feature is critical for your business and you won't use a 3rd party app as a workaround, you should switching to another accounting program. You can convert your data from QBO to QB Desktop and use the trial version to access your historical data for good. Then you will start from scratch in another accounting program to lower your conversion costs.
