Errors in the register

Hello,

I have an account that has been reconciled but when I go to the register it shows duplicate - sometimes three entries for the same transaction and all of the transactions have the little R for reconciled. If I change to the C or leave it blank, I get a discrepancy inn  my reconciliation.

Also, these double/triple entries are causing my reports to be incorrect.

I'm here to help you narrow down things we'll need to perform to remove your duplicate transactions that are reconciled in your register.

 

To start, we'll need to undo the reconciliation of the affected period, and then delete the duplicates. 

 

Here's how:

 

  1. From the Transactions tab, select Chart of Accounts.
  2. Look for the account where the duplicated transactions are registered and reconciled.
  3. From the Bank Register, let's undo the reconciliation by clicking the column that has the "R" until no sign shows.
  4. Do this to all the affected transactions of that period. 
  5. Then, look for the duplicated transactions. Click it and choose Delete to remove the transactions on the register permanently.

Once done, redo the reconciliation together with your accountant for additional guidance.

Errors in the register

Thank you. Is there something else I need to do to Unreconcile a specific month? Should I start at the beginning of the time that the duplicates started? I took over this account and the issue was already going on.

The account was reconciled to 0.00 each month.

It's good to hear the instructions that were provided by my colleague is helpful.

 

I'd suggest reconciling from the beginning of when the duplicates started. This way, the beginning balance for each month is accurate.
