Thank you for reaching out to us, @SDBrady.
I'll be glad to help you with your QuickBooks that stops working.
I would like to know if the reports that you are working on are memorized or did you upgrade to Desktop when accessing the reports.
Here are the possible scenarios when QuickBooks stops working.
1.Company name is long.
2.Damaged or missing QBWUSER.INI file
3.Program Files or Desktop Installation is damaged.
4.Damaged Windows operating system.
To prevent QuickBooks from crashing every time, make sure that QuickBooks Desktop is on its latest release.
Here's how:
- Help menu,
- Click Update QuickBooks.
- Choose the Update Now option.
- Click Get Updates.
- Once the download is done, restart QuickBooks.
- Accept the install the new release option.
If it is updated to the latest release, create a sample company file and run the contributed reports from there. Through this, we can identify if the issue is caused by data problems in the company file.
Here's how:
- File menu.
- Click New company.
- Choose Express Start.
- An onscreen guide will be prompted to finish the setup.
If we are able to use the contributed reports from the sample company file, then run the Verify and Rebuild Data in your original company file.
