Export Check Register to Excel

Hello,

In Quickbooks for Nonprofits (and Quickbooks Desktop), I am trying to find the simplest way to export the Check Register to  Excel, so that I can format the report for our Board.

I see a couple different ways to get the information - 1) Tweak the balance sheet report and then export to Excel - or - 2) Once the check register is open, use the 'print' icon, select 'comma delimited file' in the print settings tab, then select the location to export the file to.

While both of the above methods will work in a roundabout way, I was wondering if there is a less cumbersome way to simply export the exact information from the Check Register to Excel.

Thank you!

You can go to the Chart of Account and run a Quickreport.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Accountant.
  2. Click the Chart of Account.
  3. Choose the Account you want.
  4.  Select Right-click, then run QuickReport.

You'll want to export your check register to Excel. From there, it'll be easy to convert the report to your specified file format. I'd be glad to guide you how.

In your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT):

  1. Go to the Reports menu.
  2. Click Memorized Reports.
  3. Choose Company.
  4. Select Balance Sheet.
  5. Click Excel on the toolbar and select Create New Worksheet2.PNG
  6. When you're ready to export, hit OK.

Export Check Register to Excel

Thanks for the quick response.  What I'm actually looking for is the simplest way to export the Check Register directly to Excel.  I have exported the balance sheet, but to get the info I want it takes a little extra tweaking.  Ideally, I'm hoping to just export the Check Register to Excel, since it would contain the exact info I need without having to go through any extra steps.

Thank you!  This works quite well.  The only difference is that I access our Chart of Accounts through "Company".  I appreciate your answer!

Just to clarify - The post that I'm referring to as working the best for exporting Check Register data to Excel is the one where you go through your Chart of Accounts, select the account, right-click and select QuickReport.   Thank you to everyone for their suggestions.
