For my purchase orders to have line items numbers printed or put on the PDF so when the vendor and I have discussions we can discuss specific products?

Hi, Bradley.

Please know that the option to add line item numbers when printing Purchase Orders is unavailable in QuickBooks Online (QBO). I appreciate your thoughts about having this ability, so I recommend sending feedback to our product developers. This way, they can further review which parts of the program need improvements and consider adding them to future updates.

Here's how:

  1. Open your QBO account.
  2. Click the Gear icon at the upper right of your screen.
  3. Select Feedback and type in your product suggestions.
  4. Click Next to submit.

You may visit our Customer Feedback page to get updates about the status of your request.

In the meantime, you'll want to manually add the number for the line items in the description field as a workaround. This will display the order and populate when you print the forms. See the screenshot below for your visual reference.

Furthermore, you may visit this article to learn how to add an accepted purchase order to a transaction for your vendor: Add purchase orders to expenses, bills, or checks in QuickBooks Online.

Drop me a reply if you have further questions about the Purchase order in QuickBooks or any other sales forms. I'd be glad to lend a hand, Bradley.

Thank you very much for the reply. We have left feedback as per your instructions. As per the description box being utilized as a count, that seems like a very imperfect solution, but we do appreciate the suggestion. For now we are being forced to take a PDF screen capture of our working side of QuickBooks online and send that to our vendor for purchase order information readily accessible when we were using QuickBooks premier, including line items, and, customer SKU . We truly hope QuickBooks online team takes my feedback and others into account to add the ability to customize purchase orders in a similar manner to sales, receipts, invoices, and estimates.
